  1. very interested by this project too just created a codeplex account, would you add me ? thanks !
  2. (old topic, I know) was wondering about that %windir% vs %systemroot% too... did some google search and found this topic very clear now, particularly due to this part: I was using %windir% before (because shorter ), but now will use %systemroot% (cleaner) cheers
  3. just wondering, is teletext codec really needed? I only use a USB webcam... no scanner, no TV tuner, no camcorder
  4. Windows XP Pro Corporate English w/ SP3 integrated, 32 bits
  5. Hi everybody, I think one of the major defaults of nLite is its lack of informations in components removal section. In fact, even people with some experience of Windows like me are sometimes confused. We do need to add as informations as we can. So, I begin: Volume Shadow Copy : needed by NTbackup, used by some third-party backup utilities like DriveImage XML Network Monitor Driver and Tools : needed by WinPcap and dependant applications (network monitoring) Sound Controllers drivers : 1) needed for audio of some virtual machines - 2) if HDAudio is used, kb888111 will need to be reinstalled Ethernet drivers : needed for ethernet adapters of some virtual machines USB Audio support : needed for microphone integrated in webcam ActiveX for streaming video, HTTP SSL and Universal Plug and Play Device Host : used by WMP to share content over the network HTTP SSL : used by WebDAV (but I don't use WebDAV so I can't confirm) Intel Indeo codecs : used for video cinematics of video game Commandos 2 Intel PCI IDE controller : used by guest in Virtual PC, if not present will use generic IDE driver instead NetShell command tool (NetSH) : UltraVNC calls it during installation (if not present, fails to configure windows firewall) VB runtimes : CCleaner doesn't need them anymore since version 2.x Extra Fonts : Webdings font used by graphics in some applications (ex: configuration dialog of ffdshow), displays garbage if font not found Jet Database Engine and its dependency MDAC : Dreamweaver and Outpost Firewall 4.0 log viewer (and probably higher versions) please correct me for any mistake and ADD content! cheers updated 2008-05-10
  6. installed RoboForm and tried with a batch file, works like a charm
  7. hi, two ideas: - be sure to use .cmd extension, NOT .bat! so it will run the true xp command parser, not a compatibility mode one - try with /F switch: taskkill /IM robotaskbaricon.exe /F cheers
  8. Hi, I tried to install VirtualBox Guest Additions on my nLited VM system, but install (epic) fails... Does anybody already have encountered this error? nLite preset: nLite__1_1.7z
  9. 11 files in %WinDir%\AppPatch: apph_sp.sdb apphelp.sdb drvmain.sdb msimain.sdb sysmain.sdb acadproc.dll acgenral.dll aclayers.dll aclua.dll acspecfc.dll acxtrnal.dll regsvr32 is not applicable good luck
  10. to answer my own question you need to ResHack browselc.dll! search for "A&ddress", you should find the good place (string table/807/1033 > line "12902") do a copy, modify that copy, kill explorer.exe, replace original file, start again explorer.exe, you're done! Cheers
  11. Hi, I suggest "photo printing wizard" to be removable with future versions of nLite. file: %WinDir%\system32\photowiz.dll - size 270 KB - does CLSID registration Cheers
  12. Hi, I've just found a way to lighten my Nero 8 install a bit more. I remove the Nero Digital Shell Extension. First, I unregister the DLL REGSVR32 /u /s "%CommonProgramFiles%\Nero\Lib\NeroDigitalExt.dll" Then, you need to reboot / log off / restart explorer.exe in order to delete the DLL DEL "%CommonProgramFiles%\Nero\Lib\NeroDigitalExt.dll"This file's size is 1.71 MB. Cheers
  13. Hi, I just want to remove this space consuming text: Does anyone know how to do it? I've searched into shell32.dll and explorer.exe without success. Thanks!
  14. ok, so to answer my own question, the correct (fixed) version of XPize 4.7b2 Lite is the one with the MD5 6A5775E1631F0688855900AF7AD54600 so nearly all mirrors have the wrong buggy version seems to be the same problem with XPize Full version, will check edit: ok, same problem (even worse) with Full version. the correct size is 8,91 MB, its MD5 is D34DE5EA512467B3409C2BA154114F9B (so infos on XPize website aren't right). both good files were taken from Adriels', the only good mirror edit2: just in case... 4.7b2 Full http://tinyload.com/sEh3RU 4.7b2 Lite http://tinyload.com/mNnGI
  15. Hi, confused when getting XPize 4.7b2 Lite... file provided by most mirrors has this MD5: C94A6B2CF293574B5F22C871FE737B2E but one mirror (Adriels) provides a file with this MD5: 6A5775E1631F0688855900AF7AD54600 as more, the latter MD5 is the one mentionned on XPize download page I know XPize 4.7b2 has been silently updated, but I'm not sure which is the right file to get...
  16. did you also try with spaces in the label?
  17. good new! I'd been affected by that 1st issue (when uninstalling, Office folder in Program Files isn't removed... quite disappointing)
  18. Berki, I tried to do the same thing months ago, but finally I considered it impossible to do...
  19. looks amazing what exactly are these resource optimizations? and which are these components installed by default?
  20. Hi TheFlash428, thanks for the tip! I'd like to add this setting to an already administrative source, I think I have to manually add a row in "Property" table of OWC11.MSI and/or PRO11.MSI am I right?
  21. what is this "/SP" switch that everybody (except me ) use ?
  22. Hi, In my custom Nero install, I'd to remove "Nero Express" icon and 2 help icons from the Nero Burning ROM toolbar I know that setting is stored in the Registry, but the toolbar layout is saved in a very complicated way... (and also completely crappy but it should be due to the GUI framework layer... that settings are even linked to the language used o_O) anyway, does someone know how I could implement this setting into my install ? I use batch file so reg editing is okay
  23. you said you want to keep support for recent programs, so I suggest to stay on WinXP as more, XP nLited vs. 2000 nLited are quite similar, in terms of "weight" nLite is more tested on XP, because there're far more people who work on XP Microsoft itself begins to leave 2000, for exemple, Age of Empires III doesn't officially run on 2000 (or needs some hack)
  24. it'll likely look at a newbie suggest... but does making a reg entry before works ? ie. you do a batch file, and before launching Nero install you do a REG ADD with registration infos
  25. thank you for the components list Acheron you might add it on 1st post or even somewhere on updatepack.nl
