  1. 3ware 9650SE-8LPML causes EventID 41 (Kernel Power) when system hibernates

I have no idea. This is something for the Microsoft support.

At first: thank you for the hint with the hotfixes. KB2505454 solved the problem with the boot delay. :)

In the last few days I did some research about the kernel power error in the system log, when I try to hibernate the system. I organized an identical asrock mainboard, a second one from asus and a cpu for the case that there were some hardware problems. Then I tried a clean install with an ordinary 500 gb hard disk connected to a SATA port of the mainboard. Disabled windows update after install, added all the drivers for the mainboard and tested standby and hibernation. Both worked fine. After installing the 3ware driver the boot delay came up. KB2505454 fixed it. Standby and hibernation still worked fine. After that I decided to make a clean install with the SSD Raid Volume, disabled windows update and installed KB2505454. Standby works, hibernation did not whatever driver version I used:

Before changing the mainboard in my system I remembered that there is one additional system with an Fujitsu Mainboard and a 2 port 3ware Controller (9650SE-2LP). It has Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard installed. I activated the hibernation mode at the command line with powercfg -h on, rebooted and tried to sitch to hibernation mode with rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,SetSuspendState at the command line. Same result as above.

Today I submitted a support request at LSI.

  2. Remove WinImage and try again. This is a virtual DVD drive software. maybe the driver has some issues with resume.

What is KB2559635? I can't find what this is. Is it a private hotfix?

Have you installed new drivers for the SATA controller at this time?

    Winimage is removed.

The correct KB number is KB 2539635 :blushing:

The 3ware driver was updated at 2011-09-17. Driver update from 3.00.04.070 (2009-03-24) to 3.00.05.056 (2011-08-10). Today I have updated the controller bios. Its now FE9X 4.10.00.024.

At last I tried hibernation - but without success. Everything was powered down, but resume fails (as mentioned above).

  3. what happens at the August 12th? What have you installed/changed? At August 9th, there was patchday. Maybe it was an update which caused it. Do you have a system restore point before August 12th?

The oldest restore point is 2011-08-19.

the following Software was installed before August 12th:

    - Microsoft Outlook Sicherung für persönliche Ordner

    - Windows XP-Mode

    - WinImage

    - Starwind Image Converter 5.6

  4. look in the eventlog. When did you see the first kernel 41 entry?

  5. do you use BIOS 1.70? Did the hibernation ever worked correctly or has it stopped after using it already? Do you use the latest drivers fro your SATA controller?

    Also try this hotfix:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2541014

Ruhezustand funktioniert nicht oder Speicherabbild wird nicht erstellt, nachdem Windows 7 oder Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 installiert wurde

The mainboard BIOS is 1.7. Hibernation worked very well for some time. But I can't tell the date or after what update/software install it does not work anymore. The S-ATA-Controller has BIOS version FE9X 4.10.00.021, the driver version is 3.0.5.56 (Sep 14, 2011). KB2541014 is installed since 2011-08.01.

  7. I mean the hibernation error message you get.

You can also try to use the WPT 4.8:

    http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=8279

    maybe this version works.

Win tries to go to hibernation, switches erverything off and restarts immediately and I get a message screen if I had powered off the system by PSU. Win reports: The system was shutdown unexpectedly (Eventlog 6008). The system rebooted without shutdown (Kernel_Power 41). Both messages translated from german.

And I have used the WPD 4.8.x from the SDK 7.1.

  8. - xbootmgr still has errors (no change)

    - hibernation does not work

Which error message do you get?

    xbootmgr has logged the following:

  9. compressed or something like this? Does chkdsk detect any errors? What are the ACL settings for the folder? have you modified them?

Correction: there are 2 directories with 2 files inside: directory "Temporärer Ordner für zu brennende Dateien" and the file "desktop.ini". Explorer was set to not display hidden files.

    - no compression, no archive, no index and no encryprion attributes

    - chkdsk reports no errors

    - admin group, system and user have full access (all rights inherited), no special rights

    - I did no modifications

  10. Checking for changes in the folder C:\Users\olei\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn takes 39s. Have you started (and not finished) a new DVD with the internal burning tool?

    18:06:00,0231255	Explorer.EXE	00:00:34.7338565	39.2838022	1940	NotifyChangeDirectory	C:\Users\olei\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn	SUCCESS	Filter: FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_FILE_NAME, FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_ATTRIBUTES, FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_LAST_WRITE

No, I never used this internal burning tool. Only Nero 9, and there was one saved image (just copied to Blue Ray by now).

Also 1 VMWare service takes 5s:

    18:05:52,9318306 vmware-usbarbitrator.exe 00:00:27.6425616 4.8712852 1604 NotifyChangeDirectory C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\AppData\Roaming\VMware NOTIFY ENUM DIR Filter: FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_FILE_NAME, FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_SIZE, FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_LAST_WRITE, FILE_NOTIFY_CHANGE_CREATION

I have deinstalled vmware for now.

  11. use a path withput _ and try again.

If it still fails, run Process Monitor from Sysinternals, enable boot logging in ProcMon and reboot. After the boot is finished, run ProcMon again and save the trace as PML file. Compress it to 7z (ULTRA, LZMA2) and upload it.

Renaming the log file path to c:\log resulted in the same error messages.

I ran the ProcMon and uploaded the trace to my Dropbox. I will send you the password as pm.

  12. Install the hotfixes from here:

    and try again.

Also post the error message. I'm German so I can read the message ;)

Thanks, I have requested these hot fixes.

I have installed all 3 hotfixes. The boot delay is gone (probably with the 1st installed one)

xbootmgr still gives the following errors:

[2011/10/01-01:03:48.846] Detected inactive Win7 physical (ReadyBoot) prefetcher (the SysMain service start type is 3).

    Thanks for the hotfixes! :)

  13. Hi, maybe someone can help me with the following 2 problems:

    1. a boot delay of about 2 minutes (not really a problem)

    2. wake up from hibernation fails (windows was stopped unexpectedly - sorry I dont have the correct translation, I have a german Win 7)

No problems after system installation, the above mentioned occured 4 weeks later.

I have downloaded and installed the Windows Performance Tools and did a trace with this parameters: xbootmgr.exe" -trace boot -traceFlags BASE+CSWITCH+DRIVERS+POWER -resultPath C:\_boot)

    The xbootmgr.log reports 2 errors:

[2011/09/30-15:42:52.884] Detected inactive Win7 physical (ReadyBoot) prefetcher (the SysMain service start type is 3).

I have no idea how to fix this. :(

My system (Win 7 SP1 (Enterprise):

Asrock z68 Extreme 4 (no overclocking!)

    Intel i7 2600K

    16 Gig Muskin DDR3 1333

Be quiet BQT P9 PRO 850W PSU

    3ware Sata RAID Controller 9650SE (8 ports)

    4 x SSD RAID 10 (System)

    4 x HDD RAID 5 (Data)

    Any help is welcome!
