About Me
My computer history in a nutshell:
Sci-Fi movies taught me to fear computers from age 6. Walter Cronkite told us all the things we would do with them when I was 10. Tried an Apple 2 in 1982. Used a Mac a bit form 1986. Played "Star Trek" game on my flea market dual 8" floppy drive computer which I barely knew how to start in 1987. Was given a Zenith Z80 PC that I learned a few bits about in 1988. Taught myself DOS 3.3 about 1989 on an 8088 I bought at auction for $75. I got PC repairing manuals and slowly improved and figured things out. The first OS I really liked was DOS 5 with Dosshell running my batch files. Never paid for a full priced PC in my life. Always built from parts, some new but most used. This is still true because so much good and fast is thrown away before it's time. Now I fix all my friends PC's for fun and spare cash and I do very few things with any of them that Walter said I would. Finally, the house is full of parts now and I need a shovel... a big shovel....
