I just found out I cannot use Norton Antivirus Live update with IE uninstalled thru the Add/Remove Windows Components in the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

What is OE? Outlook Express? Can I completely uninstall OE? Or only disable it like IE? Will disabling IE and OE take care of the security issues? Also, how can I (completely) uninstall WMP?

I wanted to remove IE from my computer because of all the security issues (and use another browser). Are there any security issues if IE is still on your computer, but do not use it?

I tried to uninstall IE by going to Add or Remove Programs - Add/Remove Windows Components. Xp said it removed IE, but when I clicked on a shortcut link on my desktop IE opened up to the site. I searched Microsoft's site, this site, as well as a few others, but cannot find anything on this. I want to completely uninstall Internet Explorer from my computer for once and for all. And is there any way to verify that IE is uninstalled? Thanks Also, is there a way to install XP without installing IE?
  5. I have two computers (Desktop and laptop) connected thru a Liksys router that is connected to a cable modem. They are both running WinXP. I connect to my company's network using Nortel Network VPN. I can access my email (Lotus), all intranet sites, and can send instant messages. The probelm is when I try mapping to network drives. I can map sometimes, and not others. It seems pretty random. I can ALWAYS ping the server, but still cannot map the drive. I SOMETIMES have success by going to a command prompt and releasing and renewing the IP address' (IPCONFIG /RELEASE, and /RENEW). Like I said this works SOMTIMES. I have connected both computer separately to the cable modem and had the same results. I have spoken to my LAN administrators, but they couldnt help. Any suggestions?

Yes, I could export from one then import to the other. But Sometimes I update my contacts, and my wife updates hers. If I exported and then imported I would lose some information along the way. Just out of curiosity, how difficult is it to set up an Exchange server? What is required?
  7. My wife and I use the same computer. We both log-on separately, and have different email accounts, and use OutlookXP. Whenever I want to add of modify a contact that we would both use I have to do it in her Contacts as well as mine. Basically what I would like to have the same contacts database for the two of us, but seperate email accounts. I think this would be something like what Enterprise would do for a small business. Is there a simple solution to this? Is there any solution to this? Thanks!
