I'm on the boat for this problem, as well. Just got my drive back from Seagate which was a 7200.11 and they fixed it for free as the warranty is still current. I've read this 7200.10 is not supposed to be affected by the 'brick' bug, but the symptoms sure seem similar. So I'm still sitting on a 7200.10 that I'm not sure how to fix, yet.
