  1. I've just uploaded a new daily version of UURollup.

    This is what has changed:

    - updated files:

    advapi32.dll 5.0.2195.7052
    ole32.dll 5.0.2195.7105
    oleaut32.dll 2.40.4532.2
    rpcrt4.dll 5.0.2195.7287
    shell32.dll 5.0.3900.7175
    user32.dll 5.0.2195.7146

    WB advapi32.dll has been replaced with BWC advapi32.dll.

    SkyDrive's interface has changed and is much better than before. You can finally easily see the whole filename when browsing files (you need to switch to the list view). The fonts look bad with ClearType off but that's another story :sneaky:

    Edit: I think it wasn't required before but it seems that now you need to have a Microsoft account to be able to download files from SkyDrive :angry: I need some time to think about how to solve this problem but at the moment I'm very sorry but you do need to create an account there to download test versions of UURollup.

  2. You can still download the file thanks to the Wayback Machine:

    http://web.archive.org/web/20070129075223/http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/b/a/4ba76461-31be-49df-a2c6-7d0ee318d1e9/tpipv6-001205.exe

    and it's also partially included in UURollup (ENU) test versions (will be included in UURollup-v11).

    Here is some more information about configuring IPv6 in Win2k: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/12122

    Edit: What's more important here is the fact that M$ has started to remove Win2k related files. It's probably only a matter of time when other packages (updates, HBRs, etc.) will be gone. Everyone who needs them should download all necessary files and back them up. I would recommend doing it as soon as possible!!!

    I personally have got around 5000 hotfixes by request (for all languages) backed up. I still need to download all regular public updates for all supported languages.

  3. Something seems to be wrong in the new shlwapi.dll 6.0.2800.2016.

    1) After installing it icons get changed, ex.

    post-310716-0-06239200-1345014551_thumb.

    even though it should be a Notepad++ icon.

    2) Also when you slipstream the file and install Windows you get this on first boot:

    post-310716-0-11430400-1345014620_thumb.

    post-310716-0-21285600-1345014628_thumb.

    post-310716-0-27044000-1345014672_thumb.

    Active Desktop is enabled by default although it shouldn't.

  4. Does anyone know if there is any limit how long a line can be in these files?

    I'm talking about files like:

    hivesys.inf
    hivesft.inf
    etc.

    Does there exist any documentation on this matter? If there is a limit then what is exactly the number of characters allowed to be placed in one line?

    I'm asking because there are many lines like this one:

    HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ServiceGroupOrder","List",0x00010000,\

    "System Reserved",\

    "Boot Bus Extender",\

    "System Bus Extender",\

    "SCSI miniport",\

    "port",\

    "Primary disk",\

    "SCSI class",\

    "SCSI CDROM class",\

    "filter",\

    "boot file system",\

    "Base",\

    "Pointer Port",\

    "Keyboard Port",\

    "Pointer Class",\

    "Keyboard Class",\

    "Video Init",\

    "Video",\

    "Video Save",\

    "file system",\

    "Event log",\

    "Streams Drivers",\

    "NDIS Wrapper",\

    "PNP_TDI",\

    "NDIS",\

    "TDI",\

    "NetBIOSGroup",\

    "PlugPlay",\

    "SpoolerGroup",\

    "NetDDEGroup",\

    "Parallel arbitrator",\

    "extended base",\

    "RemoteValidation",\

    "PCI Configuration"

    Is there any reason why it's divided like that?

  5. Actually it really is XP :thumbup

    I've downloaded and installed the TRIAL version.

    The installation process is very different:

    M2W0zl.png

    9ugoIl.png

    c2YKWl.png

    I2DlA.png

    but after that... :w00t:

    b4juIl.png

    LHnlI.png

    yi2ZWl.png

    NJ7FUl.png

    What's important is this:

    x2eIpl.png

    I've checked the available updates and except a few (less than 5) for Windows XP Embedded the rest of them were all normal XP updates. At the moment there seem to be no difference between a normal XP and this one. The most interesting thing is what will happen in 2014 after XP is no longer supported. Of course you won't be able to directly apply updates for XP Embedded into XP Home/Pro but if the files are almost identical then it should be possible to slipstream them or install by modifying the M$ hotfix installer. In my opinion this has huge potential :)

    If you're interested here you can see how the whole setup looks like: http://imgur.com/a/cT6jS

  6. A big update today :angel

    1) I've updated the http://www.windows2000.tk site. The layout should be clearer, fonts have been standardised and less important information is hidden by default so it should be better to navigate now. I've updated several programs and added a few new sites to the Useful links section. Check News for details.

    2) Update Rollup 2 Server Extension has been updated to v2 and is now available in 24 languages (the JPN version for both x86 and nec98).

    @Hackeronte

    Thanks for you support! I'd recommend checking the weekly versions instead of the daily ones. They are much better tested and updated only once a week so it should be easier for you to follow changes (in one word, weekly = RC).

  7. WinXP is already in extended support. About which do you talk? POSready?

    Probably POSReady 2009:

    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/evaluate/windows-embedded-pos-ready-2009.aspx

    Edit: A trial version of the OS is available here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=11196

    Edit2: I've just had a look at it and it seems to be a modified version of XP SP3 :thumbup which probably means that it will be possible to prepare unofficial updates for XP (and 2K too) until 2019 :w00t:

  8. It seems that FDV has changed his website:

    http://www.vorck.com/

    and removed access to everything except for the list of updates for Win2003. There was a LOT of useful information there. I wonder what was the reason for deleting them. Fortunately the old stuff can be still found through the Wayback Machine. This seems to be the last snapshot:

    http://web.archive.org/web/20101102041015/http://www.vorck.com/windows/

  9. In fact, I hoped that we would actually try the direct driver integration :whistle: but it seems that you've managed to get everything done without it ;)

    Anyway, while working on this stuff I've learnt a lot about integrating drivers, especially mass storage drivers. I still need to give some final touches to the script. I'll add information about it here later.

  10. @Hackeronte

    It's good to see you alive :) I'll try to check where to find the two files. I need to sort some other things out first so it may take some time though. As you've probably seen, UURollup-v11 is in the works so we'll probably have to think about how to synchronise your work with it too.

    I've uploaded a new weekly version of UURollup-v11. It's exactly the same as the last daily which means that the 32-bit icon support has been finally removed. You can find it in my SkyDrive.

    I'd also like to tell you about one change in the USP5.2 roadmap. There will be no Silverlight in USP5.2. From my experience Silverlight is used only on a tiny number of websites which seem to be somehow affiliated with M$ and mostly provide content protected with DRM. The problem is that the last version of Silverlight supporting DRM under Windows 2000 was Silverlight 3 and, while you can still find it in the Internet and install, the majority of the DRM protected content won't work anyway because it requires Silverlight 4 or newer. The conclusion is that Silverlight at the moment is not fully usable in Windows 2000 and it's market share is extremely low so I don't think that including it in USP5.2 is really necessary.

    I hope everyone is fine with this decision. If not please share your opinion on this matter.

  11. You should probably apply this fix to fix the temperature problem. The fix is included in USP5.1 so you don't need to use it in an English Windows but it's still viable for other language versions.

    As you're using an ITA version of Windows now most of the unofficial updates are not for you (unless you want to forcibly install English updates...) but I'd recommend installing at least UURollup (Global) which is multilanguage. Together with it you can also install BlackWingCat's ITA packages (there are updated HAL files there too!).

    By the way, it's very interesting that you've managed to make work the Atheros card. Which drivers did you use?

    Edit: I've found some more info on different HALs: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/237556.

  12. Actually, after thinking about it, I believe it should be possible to remove all [sourceDisksNames*] and [sourceDisksFiles*] sections automatically :) so you should just left them untouched now.

    This is a fixed version of the instructions (ALC899 is fixed too).

    This is how you should prepare your drivers folder. First of all, create a folder called "drivers" next to the i386 (you need to copy the contents of your Windows CD to your disk):

    i386
    drivers

    Next you should prepare the drivers:

    1) Realtek RTL8111E

    - Create a folder "drivers\Realtek RTL8111E".

    - Go to here, download "WinXP and WinServer 2003 Driver" (Driver_XP_5798_07272012.zip) and unpack it.

    - Delete all files with *64* as they are for XP/2003 x64.

    From commandline:

    DEL *64*

    - Move the remaining files to "drivers\Realtek RTL8111E":

    RtNicprop32.DLL
    RTNUninst32.dll
    Netrtle.inf
    netrtle.cat
    Rtenic.sys
    Rtenicxp.sys

    (I'm not sure which of the two files Rtenic.sys and Rtenicxp.sys the system will choose so let's keep both)

    2) Realtek ALC889

    - Create a folder "driver\Realtek ALC889".

    - Go to here, click on "Software", download "Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file)" and unpack it.

    - We don't know the exact hardware id of your sound card so it will be safer to just include everything so copy all files from "WDM" to "drivers\Realtek ALC889" except the ones with *64*:

    3. AMD (graphics)

    - Create a folder "drivers\AMD Graphics".

    - Download http://www2.ati.com/drivers/12-6_xp32_dd_ccc.exe and unpack it.

    - Go to "Packages\Drivers\Display\XP_INF" and move "CX142032.inf" & "CX142032.cat" to "B140419".

    - Go to "B140419" and unpack all files ending with "_" using any archives (ex. 7-Zip). Don't use the system's expand.exe because it will not unpack these particular files properly. After that remove all packed files.

    - Move all files from "B140419" to "drivers\AMD Graphics":

    ati2cqag.dll
    ati2dvag.dll

  13. No problem :)

    If your motherboard is Gigabyte A75M-D2H then you can't be using the a built-in graphic card because there is none ;) I think that the graphics you're using is integrated in the CPU. In order to find proper drivers I just check the motherboard's specification and then search for the newest versions of the drivers on their manufacturers' websites. From my experience the vast majority of things included on the CD you're talking about is probably completely unnecessary (=bloatware). The motherboard is a pretty standard one so building a package of drivers shouldn't be very difficult.

    This is the first part of the instructions:

    This is how you should prepare your drivers folder. First of all, create a folder called "drivers" next to the i386 (you need to copy the contents of your Windows CD to your disk):

    i386
    drivers

    Next you should prepare the drivers:

    1) Realtek RTL8111E

    - Create a folder "drivers\Realtek RTL8111E".

    - Go to here, download "WinXP and WinServer 2003 Driver" (Driver_XP_5798_07272012.zip) and unpack it.

    - Delete all files with *64* as they are for XP/2003 x64.

    - Move the remaining files to "drivers\Realtek RTL8111E":

    RtNicprop32.DLL
    RTNUninst32.dll
    Netrtle.inf
    netrtle.cat
    Rtenic.sys
    Rtenicxp.sys

    (I'm not sure which of the two files Rtenic.sys and Rtenicxp.sys the system will choose so let's keep both)

    - Open netrtle.inf and completely remove [sourceDisksNames] and [sourceDisksFiles] sections:

    [SourceDisksNames]
    1=%DISKNAME%,,,

    [SourceDisksFiles]
    Rtenic.sys = 1
    Rtenicxp.sys = 1
    Rtenic64.sys = 1
    RTNicProp32.dll = 1
    RTNicProp64.dll = 1
    RTNUninst32.dll = 1
    RTNUninst64.dll = 1

    2) Realtek ALC889

    - Create a folder "driver\Realtek ALC889".

    - Go to here, download "Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (ZIP file)" and unpack it.

    - We don't know the exact hardware id of your sound card so it will be safer to just include everything so copy all files from "WDM" to "drivers\Realtek ALC889" except the ones with *64*:
