  1. I don't think Smith Micro Poser 8 (2009) and Smith Micro Poser 9 (2011) works with Windows 2000 even with UURollup, due to OS checks and the fact that the product might not even work correctly under Windows 2000, if not at all. :(

Also, Windows 2000 support was dropped when Smith Micro released Poser Pro in 2008.

I've just tried to install a trial version of Smith Micro Poser 9 using Application Compatibility Launcher (included in the newest daily release of UURollup-v11) and it installed without any problems. I can't check whether the program runs or not because you've got to enter your credit card information in order to be able to use the 30-day trial.

If you do use the program then I think that you should try to install it yourself using your credit card info. If you're afraid about installing the daily release then you can wait until a new weekly release is ready this weekend. Application Compatibility Launcher is going to be included in it too.

  2. How much is IIS and its available tools really used outside of a domain / working environment?

Frankly speaking, I've got no idea. The reason why I mentioned IIS6 is that Windows 2000 comes with IIS5 anyway so I thought that it might be nice to have it updated to the newer version. I don't know whether it will be possible as I did check IIS6 files some time ago and there were some unfixed dependencies.

It's interesting, Wikipedia says that Shadow Copy is available for Windows 2000. :o

I think it's only about Shadow Copy Client :(

  3. There seems to be a problem in the newest weekly / daily releases of UURollup-v11. After slipstreaming and installing the system Cryptographic Service doesn't start (it does when UURollup has been installed manually). I don't know what causes the problem and need more time for testing... so I don't think it will be possible to release a stable version of UURollup-v11 this month. I think that it will be better to have more time to test it more thoroughly to eliminate all bugs and make sure that everything works perfectly OK.

  4. Sorry but this is really the simplest and easiest solution. If you really want to buy the floppy disk version of Windows 98 then go to eBay or other websites and look for it. It will be way more expensive than a new CD-ROM drive (that is if you ever manage to find it).

  5. I've finished preparing a new weekly release of UURollup-v11 but haven't been able to test slipstreaming yet. I hope to do it tomorrow and if everything is all right then I'll upload the file.

@jumper Thanks for checking the function. I also think that it must be something different than LdrLoadLock (I'm guessing that it's probably LdrLockLoaderLock).

  6. Before this thread becomes the usual Firefox vs. Opera, a couple words of warning to duffy98:

The world is made of two kinds of people:

    1. those who use Opera (and SRware Iron from time to time  )
    2. all the others (using *any* other browser)

The second kind (by far the larger majority, more than 95% of the people using a browser) will endless try to convince the very few in the first group that their Opera browser is inferior (for whatever reasons).

The first kind will simply and silently keep on using Opera (and do things much faster and in a more secure way than the second group ;)).

Opera is good because it's very fast (same level as Chromium) while being also MUCH lighter at the same time, thus you can use it even on an older computer. I use mostly Firefox nowadays but Opera was my main browser for many years and I didn't really have any serious issues with it.

The real problem is that due to the fact that very few people use it there aren't many extensions available for it. Especially bigger players like Evernote don't even consider making their products available for Opera :( It's also being developed at much slower pace than Firefox / Chromium which means that some functionalities are added later than in case of the other browsers (ex. the HTML5 drag&drop support). Many popular websites also sometimes aren't completely compatible with Opera (I don't think they even test their code with the browser :}).

  7. I can't really help with the problem as it would require to check all of those items one by one :( What I'm sure about is that UURollup can't cause such a problem itself. It must be another update / driver / program to be the culprit.

Tomorrow I'm going to upload a new weekly version of UURollup-v11 and this will be something like a RC (as UURollup-v11 stable is going to be ready next week). At the moment there's still one known bug, i.e. Silverlight doesn't work with East Asian locales other than Japanese.

  8. It must be caused by one of the programs which you've got installed. It calls LdrLoadLock, can't find it any more and throws an error. It's definitely not related to the .NET Framework installation itself.

Could you post a screen shot of your Control Panel Add/Remove Programs applet?

  9. The file itself doesn't show any dependency problems but I need to know whether it actually works :w00t: I've really got no idea about DirectPlay and its usage so it would be very useful if someone knowledgeable about this particular component shared his opinion on this.

UURollup-v11 is going to be released on 29 December 2012. There will be one more weekly release this week and the next one is going to be final. As I already stated in the past, this is going to be the last version of UURollup (ever) and there won't be any updates for it in the future unless critical bugs are detected.

  10. I don't think it's possible without modding of each individual metro app. Why would you need different languages in your metro apps, is there really much use in such approach?

For example I'd like to view News for several different countries at the same time but at the moment you have to choose only one language in the News application so it's impossible.

  11. You will be able to install and use the newest version of Flash. Skype, no  It does start but it doesn't detect the microphone / headset so you can only use chat. You can always use the last unbloated version of Skype, i.e. v4.2 which works fine in Win2k.

You don't need any other updates apart from USP5.1, UR2 and UURollup to be able to run these applications although of course having a fully updated system (IE, MDAC, DX, etc.) is recommended. I'd recommend that you just install the three unofficial packages and then check if the programs you need work.

  12. I've prepared a new daily release of UURollup-v11.

All the newest files from BWC kernel are included in it. I've also patched the original explorer.exe 5.0.3900.6920 to add 32-bit tray icon support and added it as explorer.exe 5.0.3900.6933. The reason is that there seem to be some problems when using the WildBill's version (explorer 5.0.3900.6932) with Revolutions Pack (thanks ). There's no new shut down menu in this new explorer.exe and won't be any in the near future unless I or someone else figure out how to rewrite the original file and add new options to it (instead of modifying the existing ones).

I've also added a patched version of sfc.dll which disables Windows File Protection since it doesn't work properly with unofficial files present in the system.

Edit: By the way, the new LibreOffice 4.0 (currently in beta) seems to be compiled in VS2010, thus it won't work in a stock Win2k any more. It does work with UURollup installed.
