  1. In the Device Drivers section on http://www.unattended.msfn.org/xp/drivers.htm It states that some of the drivers won't really work: "Not all drivers installations will work using this method. If you come across one that doesn't work, then you may want to consider doing a silent installation..." What is the purpose of the /INF folder in the $OEM$\$$ folder? The readme file of Intel Chipset Drivers says that you must put the .inf ALSO in &OEM&/$$/INF. Can someone confirm fixing driver installation by putting the .inf files in &OEM&/$$/INF. I did as intel readme told, but is it worth copying all your inf files to that folder to avoid drivers from not being installed automatically?
  2. Thanks for guiding me around. When I was searching I couldn't come up with the words "space" and "saving" i used searches on delete, install, xp, boot,.... /me gone do some guided coding
  3. tested the mod and it works You can find it on the driverheaven forum. 1. DL original files from ati for you radeon card 2. extract to a location 3. run the tool, choose extracted folder, choose card type click mod and you're done. http://www.driverheaven.net/forumdisplay.p...25&daysprune=-1 I've got the new Control Center running on my Mobility Radeon 9700 256Mb with the latest drivers: fastastic!
  4. I'm talking rather about 5 years ago The first versions of VMWare were a dream, you would have identical hardware as the host machine and you HAD to install the drivers for it! This was really neat back then.... so if any of you know where to find the original (could have been beta, but was working stable) VMWare version 1 let me know.
  5. Which files and folders should/can I keep / Remove on a windows XP SP2 slipstreamed cd to gain space for my drivers? I've tried several but mostly end up in having errors during text mode setup already A couple of conditions: - I will never upgrade - I have a laptop - advanced: all those scsi items in the txtsetup.sif can they be removed in such way that they don't run during txt setup but still do get copied over for use in Windows once loaded (this is not necessary, but can be usefull to speed up the installation process).
  6. I've been told that VMWare is as bad as Virtual PC because it doesn't allow to choose your hardware anymore? I know that a long time ago back in the days of the first versions of VMWare the hardware you had in your virtual environment was the same as your real environment and this is not possible in recent VMWare version? Need to know this before I go buy it, see...
  7. You can close this one It isn't the same as vmware as seems: it uses a set of emulated hardware found in the helpfile. btw go grab it it's 45 day trial
  8. see my question. I followed the instructions from both this board and intel readme.txt to "unattend" install intel chipset drivers and it doesn't work in the Virtual PC environment. My question is if this is normal and if it will work in the "real" environment.
  9. Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but can some1 post me the dir listing of the files needed for ati drivers (only drivers indeed), thx! btw i've found a "hack" to mod current ati display driver files to reference ati mobility drivers, i'll try them and post back on it.
  10. I'm new to this board, which is a pitty, I should have been here before cause it's one of the best! Can someone tell me what the exact files are that are needed for driver files. Mostly theres .cat, .inf and .sys, but here it's a mess of files My story: - Bought a laptop with XP home, no recovery cd with it and no floppy drive, want XP PRO - So i need to slipstream a cd myself - tried and failed to get my fasttrak running in textmode - but thanks to THIS FORUM i managed !!! - now i'm eagerly wanting to slipstream it all - but i need some more help (I read a thread yesterday and they asked me to provide the files for txtmode raids when you are succesfull, where do i need to post them?) Thanks in advance
