  1. Hmm, <Key /> seems to be the same as <Key></Key> no difference...but thanks for the idea...
  2. Meanwhile i found out that i need to set a valid product key for this to work...but i would like to set no key at all... Maybe i can set the trial key, but this still will make setup install the windows version related to the product key, so i can no longer select the edition i want to install at the beginning of the setup... Edit: setting the trial key works, but it also sets which edition will be installed...
  3. Hi all, i am trying to create an unattended installation for Windows 7 using WAIK to create an autounattend.xml Everything works so far, but i am stuck at the end of the installation and everything i searched about this topic did not help. I was hoping someone here might be so kind to give me some hints in the right direction. Here is my problem: My autounattend.xml should work for x86 and x64 and allow for a completely unattended setup, so that windows installation ends with the desktop of my created user, as it would when installing manually. Everything works fine untill the second reboot of windows setup. Windows starts up and still wants me to enter username (i would like to have a default user with no PWD) and key (i want to set it later) and so on. I set to never ask for a key by setting <UserData> <ProductKey> <Key></Key> <WillShowUI>Never</WillShowUI> </ProductKey> </UserData> and I have tried every combination of options to create and autologon a new user (which was created but can not log in with or without the password) but I could not get it to work. I attached my xml file (which works fine but does not contain the last not working steps). maybe someone can extend the xml with the missing settings or point me to the right instructions.. Any help is apreciated, thanks everyone ! autounattend.zip

  5. Well seems i did not give enough info, or this problem is too complicated... Is there anything i can add that would help in solving this?
  6. Hi all, i installed Win7 HP 32 bit on my test machine and customized it. The i used sysprep /generalize /oobe /shutdown to prepare it for deployment. I used imagex /capture d:\ e:\install.wim “MyOS” to capture it to my custom install.wim And then I took a normal Win7 DVD and replaced the install.wim with my created install.wim Everything works fine so far, i can install this customized win7 just fine But here comes the point where i need help: The normal win7 install.wim files contain several editions in subdirs (1,2,3,4...) and an xml file which discribes the editions My custom WIM file only has my custom win7 in it, and it is in the root of the wim and not in a subdir called 1 and there is no xml file. This makes it impossible to add this edition to an existing WIM file (so i can create a DVD which includes the normal and also my custom Win7 version) I already added the x64 editions to my x86 dvd with imagex.exe" /export "c:\AIO\WIMs\Windows_7x64_ULT.wim" 1 "c:\AIO\DVD\sources\install.wim" "Windows 7 HOMEBASIC (x64)" but i can not do this with my custom install.wim due to the fact that the wim does not contain an xml description... Also (and this is even worse) i can not open this wim in WAIK to create an unattended setup. Can anyone help me and explain what i did wrong or how i need to do it to get wht i want (a custom win7 dvd with all normal editions and with also my custom editions included). Any hints would really be great...thanks!
