  1. First problem: When I create an ISO-file with the program on this site and install windows on a PC, the setup can't find sound.drv When I insert the original, he finds the file. The he continues untill he can't find spnike.dll, if I insert the unattended cd, he continues like nothing happened. What is going wrong? I'm using windows XP prof (dutch) with SP2 (slipstreamed using nLite). Second problem: It's amazing, but Internet Explorer is gone I mean: really gone, when the setup is complete, there's no sign of Ineternet Explorer (IE), Outlook Express (OE), Windows Media Player (MP), Windows messenger, etc... If it was my pc, that would be a blessing, but it's a pc for, euhm, 'normal' people They just like IE, OE, etc... Is it something about the sound.drv that's missing? Or some stupid program (currently there's installing: winrar, acrobat reader, nero, nero dutch language pack, office 2003, norton 2004 and an ASPI driver, no registry tweaks (I deleted them to solve the problem, but it didn't).
  2. Let me know when you put you're garbage out
  3. Ok, it's possible to do it a bit shorter: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/.zip] @ = "7-zip.zip" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/7-zip.zip] @ = "zip Archive" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/7-zip.zip/DefaultIcon] @ = "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\Formats\zip.dll" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/7-zip.zip/shell/open/command] @ = "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7zFMn.exe" "%1" But he won't put the link to the folders in the key, it stays empty. How can this be solved?
  4. Ok, I think I found a sollution for the association of files also, for example the .zip: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/.zip] @ = "7-zip.zip" (I suppose the @ stands for default? I'm not yet into this register-business) So, now windows knows he has to use 7-zip.zip for .zip-files, but wat is 7-zip.zip? Well, lets define it: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/7-zip.zip] @ = "zip Archive" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/7-zip.zip/DefaultIcon] @ = "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\Formats\zip.dll" [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/7-zip.zip/shell] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/7-zip.zip/shell/open] [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Classes/7-zip.zip/shell/open/command] @ = "C:\Program Files\7-Zip\7zFMn.exe" "%1" This has NOT BEEN TESTED. I'll try it this afternoon, have to go now. I'll let you know if it worked
  5. Third problem is already solved In the register: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/7-zip The key with name Lang should be C:\Program Files\7-Zip\Lang\nl.txt Would it work when I say in my regtweaks.reg file: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/7-zip] "Lang"="%systemdrive%\Program Files\7-Zip\Lang\nl.txt" Or do I have to say c: in stead of %systemdrive%?
  6. My first unattended XP-install went prutty well, some minor details (typo's ) need to be adjusted though and some problems should be solved: First: The unattended install of 7-zip went fine, only: the zip-files are still opened with the crappy windows-thing as default. Is there a way to associate .zip, .rar etc... with 7-zip automaticly? Second (last already ): The adjustments in the register aren't executed, I have this in the .cmd-file: REGEDIT /wait /S c:\install\RegTweaks.reg The systemroot is C, and the file is off-course called regtweaks.reg and is situated in the install-folder. The regtweaks.reg file works fine, because when I execute it afterwards, everything is ok. What's wrong? [edit] Ow, there is a third The language of 7-zip should be dutch, can this be changed? Possibly some register tweak? [/edit]
  7. Ok, I'll just try to create an unattended install, If I find the time I will look at the SysPrep thx
  8. That's one way to do it, but I remember when my laptop arrived, all the programs where pre-installed and at the first boot it requested serial and usernamen/company. Is this also possible? Or is it a method only the big resellers (dell, hp,...) can use?
  9. I'm helping out in a local pc-shop. The only thing I don't really like is the installation of windows XP, since it isn't automated So I'm trying to create an unattended xp installation cd, and already have a problem. When I'm using the setup manager, he requires a name and organization, wich is a small problem, since the unattended install will be used for new computers with, off course, different owners. Is there a way to first install everything and ask for a name after al the installation tasks have been done? Second, there's the productkey. The original OEM-versions of windows XP home are delivered with the new pc, but they have different productkeys. Is it possible to ask this key after installation? Or is there another way to solve this problem? Thx a lot
