    Dutch SP2?

I'm trying to use XPCREATE on my original dutch XP cd, and I've put the dutch SP2 executable in the SPACKS dir. But when I run XPCREATE, it wants to download SP1a.. the redist version of SP2 for dutch XP is out (has been for a week orso).. Do you need more info? I got the SP2 from: http://download.microsoft.com/download/6/d...935-SP2-NLD.exe
  2. You know, that's actually a pretty good question.. my brother's SP2 machine doesn't notify him either about that .net update.. and he hasn't used any of these tweaks at all. Has anyone been notified of this update?
  3. Nope, that didn't work.. that tweak was just for that security center warning, not that other tray icon. Ok, now the only key which could be responsible for this is one of these: Disable ALL BalloonTips [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] "EnableBalloonTips"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced] [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer] "NoSMBalloonTip"=dword:00000000 Try to change the values for this keys to dword:00000001, maybe this will fix the problem... Nope that didn't work either.. Really strange..
  4. Yes, the AU service is started and the 2nd radio button (from the 4) for my preferred setting is selected. This is really annoying..
  5. Nope, that didn't work.. that tweak was just for that security center warning, not that other tray icon.
  6. I've recently used a lot of registry tweaks I found on this board here, mostly disabling and hiding annoying stuff, such as all balloontips and windows messenger. Unfortunately this seems to have the unexpected side effect that the AU icon in the systray (setup to download automatically and warn me using that icon) doesn't show up anymore. There is 1 high priority update (dotnet sp1), so it should have warned me by now (the pc has been on for hours). Can anyone tell me which tweak is the problem? These tweaks were entered during an unattended SP2 install with all hotfixes except for that most recent dotnet SP. 7. Sorry, forgot to mention that. I already had AutomaticUpdates=1 in my [Data] section of winnt.sif. I have no idea why windows setup ignores that setting in winnt.sif.. Does anyone have an idea?
  8. I'm almost done tweaking my unattended (well almost unattended) SP2 cd, but I'm still left with one large problem. "Welcome to Microsoft Windows" still starts the question if I want to enabled Automatic Updates. I already specified my desired setting with a registry tweak in cmdlines.txt. So I would like to skip this step entirely. I tweaked the key : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\AUOptions to my liking. I tried editing the oobeinfo.ini to customize the Welcome tool, and everything works except for SkipAutoUpdates=1 . ref.chm says this: If this option is missing, or if SkipAutoUpdate = 0, the Help Protect Your PC page displays in Windows Welcome. OEMs are required to display the Help Protect Your PC page. Only IT corporate administrators may use SkipAutoUpdate to hide this page. Does anyone know how to get rid of this screen? How do I tell the setup program that I allowed to use SkipAutoUpdate?
  9. What is the best (or any way) to install MSN 6.2 (the latest) immediately after the setup completes? I'm not sure if I'm going to do it, but what would be the best way to remove Windows Messenger (after the above succeeded)? I 'm using XPCREATE to create my slipstreamed/customized sp2 cd, so I guess/hope that these questions are okay here. [update] Nevermind on MSN 6.2, but how do I remove Windows Messenger?
  10. Ok I will, but do you (or anyone else) know the answer to the other problems? Like the TimeZone=110 and that annoying "Welcome to Microsoft Windows" nonsense screen.
  11. Thanks for the info on cmdlines.txt, I fixed that now. I'm going to test it later. WIHU won't run on both of my XP machines here (1 SP1 and 1 SP2), it crashes and xp wants to send a report.. I have no idea what's the problem.
  12. I've recently started experimenting with slipstreaming and unattended setups (to specify defaults values), but I've run into several small problems that I haven't been able to fix yet. Can anyone give me a hand with (any of) these? - I don't want a randomized ComputerName, I want the default field to be blank, but the ComputerName="" seems to be ignored. - The TimeZone I specified (110; GMT+1, Amsterdam) is ignored, the default +8 is still selected. - I want to use UnattendMode=ProvideDefault, but it's not working as I expected. I don't get to see the dialogs/fields with the answers I specified, but the installer skips those windows entirely. Like a real unattended setup (apart from the quirks mentioned above). - The "Welcome to Microsoft Windows" still starts and asks me if I want to protect the pc by enabling Automatic Updates, but I already specified AutomaticUpdates=1 The other things, like checking for internet connection and registration must be skipped too. The creation of Users must not be skipped though. - My CMDLINES.TXT isn't started after the setup. And I have no idea why. The .bat and .reg files were copied to %windir% though. CMDLINES.TXT is on the cd in \$OEM$ This is my winnt.sif : ;SetupMgrTag [Data] MsDosInitiated="0" UnattendedInstall="Yes" AutomaticUpdates=1 [Unattended] UnattendMode=ProvideDefault OemPreinstall=Yes OemSkipEula=Yes TargetPath=\WINDOWS WaitForReboot=No [GuiUnattended] TimeZone=110 EncryptedAdminPassword=NO OEMSkipRegional=1 OEMSkipWelcome=1 [UserData] ProductID=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx FullName="" OrgName="Home" ComputerName="" [Display] BitsPerPel=16 Xresolution=800 YResolution=600 Vrefresh=85 [RegionalSettings] LanguageGroup=1 SystemLocale=00000413 UserLocale=00000413 InputLocale=0409:00000409 [Branding] BrandIEUsingUnattended=Yes [URL] Home_Page=about:blank [Proxy] Proxy_Enable=0 Use_Same_Proxy=1 [Identification] JoinWorkgroup=WORKGROUP [Networking] InstallDefaultComponents=No [NetAdapters] Adapter1=params.Adapter1 [params.Adapter1] INFID=* [NetClients] MS_MSClient=params.MS_MSClient [NetServices] MS_SERVER=params.MS_SERVER [NetProtocols] MS_TCPIP=params.MS_TCPIP [params.MS_TCPIP] DNS=Yes UseDomainNameDevolution=No EnableLMHosts=Yes AdapterSections=params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1 [params.MS_TCPIP.Adapter1] SpecificTo=Adapter1 DHCP=Yes WINS=No NetBIOSOptions=1 My CMDLINES.TXT: [Commands] "%windir%\source.bat" "regedit.exe /s %windir%\tweaks.reg" "%windir%\tweaks.bat" "del %windir%\source.bat" "del %windir%\source.reg" "del %windir%\tweaks.reg" "del %windir%\tweaks.bat"
