  1. oioldman the netsh command works like a charm in the runonce command, i've just deployed alot of servers using this method. the post by Yzöwl looks spot on and just proves how good an uattended file can be........ what i want to know now is, just how much can be done in an unattended script? can you completely customize every aspect of a server or client install? if so, please post ur scripts..... thanks mike
  2. oioldman hey, it is possible to add an address using the "netsh" command from a dos prompt. Maybe you could add the address to your runonce batch file and it will apply the address after you first log on..... for example, the 3 lines below add Ip, subnet mask and dns server to a connection called "Lan" netsh interface ip add address "Lan" 192.168.1.2 255.255.255.0 netsh interface ip add address "Lan" gateway=192.186.1.254 gwmetric=3 netsh interface ip add dns "Lan" 192.168.1.1 The name "lan" = the name of the network connection you want to apply the address to, i think the default is "Local area Connection" hope this helps. mike.
  3. Lads, again, thanks for your replies, Kenedy, I have now configured my RIS images to ask me for the partition sizing during the install, its the only manual step I have to take during the deployment. The rest works prefectly. Krokodox, Any information you would be willing to pass on regarding RIS would be appreciated. PM me and we can talk then. mike.
  4. Hi Lads, Thanks for your responese, Kenedy, if Its a new array I have setup without any partitions on it, where can you set your partition size during the unattended installation? Can you automatically set the initial partition size before extending it? Krokodox, I will implement what you have suggested and let you know how I get on. Thanks again. Mike.
  5. Morning All, I have been using RIS to deploy servers for about 2 months and have developed a solution that works for me except for one part, that being the size of the first partition. I need to be able to set it to 20,480 MB in Size. Below is the entry in the unattended section of my ris.sif file. [Unattended] OemPreinstall = yes DriverSigningPolicy=Ignore OemPnpDriversPath="drivers\nic;drivers\PnP\cs\il;drivers\PnP\v\atir;drivers\PnP\m\co;drivers\PnP\Storage;drivers\PnP\Storage\Mraid35x;drivers\PnP\N\Intel;drivers\PnP\N\BC;drivers\PnP\Mgmt;drivers\nicteaming\intel" FileSystem = LeaveAlone ExtendOemPartition = 20480 TargetPath = \WINDOWS OemSkipEula = yes InstallFilesPath = "\\%SERVERNAME%\RemInst\%INSTALLPATH%\%MACHINETYPE%" I have looked into this issue and every post I have found says that the the ExtendOemPartition has 3 vaules of "0, 1 & the specific size I want the drive to be" I have made the necessary changes but no joy, can anyone help me out? Thanks in advance. mike.
  6. Hi all, Is it possible to include in an unattended answer file a specfic partition size? So far when my image runs, it users the full partition but I'm hoping to specify a particular size.... if any one can help it'd be appreciated. Thanks Mike.
  7. Morning all, I have recently setup a RIS server and created some different images that are working perfectly. My question is, how many concurrent sessions can you have running? I have tried to run 2 at a time; one server connects and builds properly, but the second while getting an IP address fails, connecting to port 4011(the BINL RIS Port) Thanks in advance Mike.
  8. Hi all, I Stumbled across your forums this morning, nice place ya got here, very informative. anyway, to cut to the chase, I am using win pe on a Dell 1750 Server with the following hardware, Broadcom Net Extreme Dual Port Nic. Perc 4 Scsi controller. I have created my config set, booted from the CD with the floppy disk but it doesnt detect the Raid Controller or Nic Cards. Can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance Mike.
