  1. I'm having a problem with the Mystify screensaver in Vista. Seemingly 'all of a sudden', the lines are fading but staying on the screen. I've tried fiddling with the registry settings (like Blur) but they don't make a difference. Does anyone else see this problem? Vista SP1, ATI Radeon HD 4850, Driver 10.3. A screenshot is attached.
  2. I'm just curious, from a technical standpoint...why can't KernelEx work on Win 95? Is it a technical limitation (I know the platforms are quite similar) or an artificial one?
  3. dencorso... I'd be glad to test it, would love to see if this could work.
  4. That's what I figured, but MSE seems to be a slightly different case. It is the same program that runs on several platforms (XP, Vista, 7) so the definitions are the same for all. This was making me think that definitions would continue to be available past XP's cutoff, on the basis that the same definitions will be available for the other platforms.
  5. Just wondering if anyone has any information on what the support policy is on Microsoft Security Essentials...How long will definition updates be available? It seems like they could (in theory) be available indefinately...but I wonder if there will be an 'artificial' cut off date, like XP extended support cut-off. Any thoughts?
  6. Yeah, I kind of expected that. The more I think about it, I think that most of the popular DVD copying software came out around or after the point where XP was really mainstream, so I imagine that 9x was second-class for these programs from the beginning...makes it not too surprising.
  7. Is anyone familiar with some DVD copying software for Windows 9x? (Backing up legal dvd's of course) I've tried a few of the big ones (like DVDfab) with KernelEx and they don't work. Any help would be appreciated!
  8. Wow, I didn't notice that project before...I'll have to try it out. I guess more things like this will come up as more programs drop XP support (especially browsers, etc.) Seems like if it can be done for 9X it shouldn't be too difficult to do it for XP.
  9. This may be a little off topic...but would something like Kernelex be possible for XP? From what I understand this works by patching system files, which I don't believe is possible on XP due to signing. I'm curious because KernelEx's being able to run Firefox 3 and Flash 10 essentially brings some new life to old computers running 9X. It seems like this situation will also occur when XP program support ends (especially FF and Flash). I think there will still be a decent number of older systems on XP. Think Kernelex or an equivalent for XP is possible?
