i work for charter cable and I'm the tech that comes to your house to fix your cable. well they gave us these laptops with a locked down linux on it which just lets me get an ip address and browse the net. i cant install any programs or save files. neway i was trying to figure out why my Eee PC asus laptop and my personal desktop wouldn't boot from my recently created winXP install on my USB micro 16gig cruzer thumb drive when i found a guy with my exact problem using the same tutorial and he said it was solved on site http://www.msfn.org/...qs-t116766.html which just led me to this site's home page. i have searched hard here on the forumns and just found your method on how to do it. my question is. where is the the fix? i found the method on how to do it on this site and i don't know if he just gave up and started over with your method or fixed his problem. any help would be awesome. thanks ahead of time! story: i made the boot thumb drive following the steps in this tutorial http://www.ngine.de/article/id/8 when i boot from USB in both computers i get the same error on both, happens right after windows logo appears. i get blue screen with the following error “A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. if this scren appears again, follow these steps: Check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.
