mount install.wim, go to mount location\windows\system32\imageres.dll open with restuner or reshacker open folder image I changed all of these images to the one I wanted. I just saved them as different sizes as needed. Use photoshop or gimp or whatever to edit your images. Also, not sure if it's necessary, but I named my edited images the same as the originals, 5031.bmp, 5032.bmp, and so on. edit: images are .jpg not .bmp

I did the same thing. I just opened vista in a virtual machine in vmware, and copied it from the resources folder on that to my own machine. No problems. Aero works just fine.

I put it just before the cleanup.cmd line in RunOnceEx.cmd and used /quiet /update-no /no-default /norestart and used the cleanup to reboot. seems to work just fine edit: seems I was a bit premature It works, but only after rebooting the second time.
