OK, from what I've read here, it sounds like more of the XP Home vs XP Pro. Connecting to a Domain ain't an issue here, just as long as workgroups are still fine. My main reason is because I got myself an Xbox 360 and I'm getting sick of having to dual-boot between Pro and MCE, all I wanted to know would there be any limitations to software installs etc.

Hi. I've been trying to decide whether or not to move from XP Pro to MCE for my main OS. I currently have both on a dual-boot, but I've been wondering what differences they have, despite the obvious Media Center in MCE. What are the limits (if any) that MCE has compared to XP Pro?

They all work fine for me at the moment, if you're experiencing problems just leave it for half a day etc before trying again.

actually sound B did work for me, my apologies. it's only sound a which is the problem. could somebody possibly supply a mirror?

All seem to work fine for me atm except Sound A + B

I usually install it straight from an ISO myself, as I've found it to fail on me a few times when I try the DVD. BTW, the link to your Shrinker v1.10 is down, is there an alternative link for it? Thanks

Just a couple of questions: 1) How big is the installer roughly in filesize? 2) Any idea on when you will make it public? 3) Will it be easily accessable via here or a BT link? OK, I'll give it a shot. It's not the fact it's the RTM that bothers me, it's just all this bad information going around about it.

OK. Slipstreaming is easy as hell, done it plenty of times. The main concern was with the actual content of the SP2 package. I understand that there are few fixes that need to be done before you finalise the CD (which I can do no probs) but my main query is if it's got anything in it that is not good. Like you've probably seen on various posts around here, some ppl are sticking to SP1 rather than upgrading, now I dunno if these ppl are just scared (which half may be) or they know something about SP2 that's not good. Just trying to make this final decision b4 I reformat my hdd. Thanks for your help

Thanks for that. I wasn't sure coz I didn't actually see them on the list of updates in SP2 and thought M$ might've forgot them, hehehe. One last question... Is it worth just using a fully-updated SP1a install or just using a SP2? The repsonses are so divided on this both on forums and between my peers.

OK. I noticed when cleaning up my batch file for SP2 that there were a number of hotfixes that weren't covered by SP2. I don't know if they were specifically SP1 related but here's the list: Type 1 Patches: KB826939 Q321884 Type 2 Patches: Q831167 KB837009 KB870669 Now, unless they are SP1 specific I'm assuming you would keep these files. Could someone please clarify if these are still needed, or can be thrown away. Thanks guys

I noticed about 4 patches from the Type 1 and Type 2 Pre-SP2 Hotfixes that were not in SP2. I did build a SP2 CD a couple of days ago but accidently deleted it I'll try and build another one soon and then I can tell you which hotfixes are still included. However, look at this URL if you want: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=811113 It shows a list of the fixes included in SP2, you can always use the list at the top of this thread to compare, and keep the ones not listed (this is what I did anyways). Hello. Just wondering where there the PDF file is that contains the http://unattended.msfn.org/ site? I saw an earlier version but I noticed in the site's news that the PDF has been updated. But, I dunno where to grab it from. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Just a quick question about the Q867801 fix. I know it replaces the 832894 fix, but does someone have a list from lthis year on what other ones have been replaced? Thanks in advace
