hey guys finaly question. what if bought another HDD of the SAME model as this one (obviously with better firmware) and connect its board to the defected HDD would that help in anyway ??

yes i dont know where to get those rs232 pins to use the solution suggested here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=29FztWJVxbM the shipping cost from fry is 80bucks ,and i have no idea where to get it in my country.... please can you assist me, is there a replacement thing i could get ?

Hi folk. my 1tb st31000340AS has died 2 days ago. i don hear any knocking comng out of it, and i hear the plates spinning fine. the problem is - it woldnt be detected in BIOS ( Please, other then RMAing it to seagate, is there any other solution to this grave issue ? tnx in advance, Paul.
