  1. I have installed XPize 4.7 Full into my "almost" fresh spanish XP SP3 OS... the thing is that I replaced manualy the uxtheme.dll file and got the everything pretty ok, but I have no animations... and that's one of the main reasons I like this pack a lot!

Can someone point my out which file(s) I have to look up for resolving this isue?

Also is it critical to downgrade the uxtheme.dll before or after installing Xpize on SP3?

    Thanks in advance!

Search for a SP3 uxtheme patcher.

  2. @damian666:

I dont have any problems with you mate. If my pevious post was harsh, I apologize.

I just thought that it would be kind of you to share your work as I did with mine, because that helped you a lot in getting started. But as you said, you dont have the obligation to do so if your pack isnt based on XPize source anymore. It was just my expectation. My fault.

The most important thing for me right now is to see a much better XPize thanks to the efforts of developers and designers with more strength and motivation that I currently have.

  3. @ Happy-Dude:

A Vista pack addon for XPize can be made easily and nobody has copyright on that. Anyway, damian666's Vista Pack source code should be available for all since it is based (at least the first versions) on XPize source. That way we could take resources for the XPize addon and give credit to him. That's the whole idea when I made XPize source code available. And derived works should follow the same idea.

  4. OH and why not separate the program from the resources, have like difrent IconPacks to choose from

that would be nice and it is an easy thing to be done. Like you did with your extra resources only the filelist.xml and the \resources folder are needed. Someone could create a nsis installer and just install those files inside the vize/xpize's folder.

I'm curious to see what happens with XPero, Happy-Dude and W3bbo and how it will be organized.

Yeah, that's definitely a good idea. I had plans for that in the past. Kind of downloadable themes or packs. We could have Vista pack, XP pack, Tango pack, etc...

BUT, the problem is that XPize is not that, so I think that should be another project. For now, it would be great to get the new XPize working, with its original features. Then, we can think of extra features IMO.

    Cheers

  5. As greed with W3bbo, my roles will be the following (Taking into account my available time):

    - Host and publish the new versions in the official XPize / Vize pages. I still have hundreds of visits everyday, so it would be a bad idea to start over with a different site.

    - Kind of "advicer" of the project to help make decisions, solve doubts about the codebase and to try that XPize doesnt become a different thing.

  6. Remember, there are three distributions of the XPize source:

There are two links off the main XPize website and another, seperate, download from XPero's skydrive account.

    XIS.zip, XPize46SCR, and XPize_SRC.zip

    Each has different contents.

XIS is the NSIS XPize Installer System: It is a basic version of XPize so people can create derived works form it easily.

XPize46SCR: It is the NSIS XPize 4.6 source code.

XPize_SRC: Is the uncomplete XPize.net source code

  7. Hi all,

I'm not very good at speeches, so I will try to keep this simple.

Since I got my job last year, I've become a busy person with little or no time for continue developing my 2 main heavy projects: Vize and XPize.

Also, I must admit that with time, I have been losing interest and strenght in both projects and they're now a tough task for me. That means that the fun is gone for me developing Vize and XPize and they have become a "job". That said, I think that when you no longer enjoy doing that akind of stuff, you should stop. So that's what I am doing right now.

I will make available all the source code of both projects, so other people can create similar packs (there are already users doing so).

I would like to give BIG THANK YOUS to all of you MSFN guys that helped me a lot in making the XPize and Vize projects a reality, specialy Martin_L and xper.

I would like to give a BIG THANK YOUS to all XPize and Vize users.

I think that's all, so thank you very much again

EDIT: The project will be continued by a group of people (Read sticky post)

  9. Yeah, I usually read istartedsomething blog. I think the guys are doing a great job in hunting UI issues. I hope MS takes it into account.

And yeah, Vize solves a lot of them :)

    Cheers

  10. Hi,

Vize is not a dead project, but it has been almost flawless form quite a long time, so I had no need to release new versions. Right now I'm focused on XPize.Net.

If you want extra features please post them here.

    Cheers
