I apolgize for the dp, it was completely accidental. I was suffering spontaneously induced latency issues with my internet and it looked like my post wasn't made, so I tried again. Thanks for the link. I'm well aware of black viper, but unfortunately he doesn't provide any extra information that the Services window doesn't.

If I have disabled any and all sort of power management features, is it safe to disable this service? Mainly, will Windows boot?
