  1. **** brick ; Seems like HDD is entering halt state, or BuSY state ..... due to some operations....
  2. My MB is Asus P5B-E with current BIOS 18.06 (last version is 18.07, has some fix on over 1TB HDD's, and the actual drive is 500GB). My other other HDD WDC 250 Gb is running with no problems. To eliminate MB problem i tried ST3500620AS HDD on two other different MB's and PSU >600W and it always shows the same symptoms. Regarding OS's, i tried operating the faulty drive under Vista (64 and 32 bit) Windows 7 (64 and 32 bit) (i have them as ghost files so it was not hard and time consuming), Mandriva and Debian... Havent tried with live distro yet (the first next thing). All have similar symptoms, if i perform operation like partitioning or format it hangs and (guess it has issues with power-cycle ?!?! or maby not) simple restart ain't helping cause the drive is not recognized in BIOS, so i have to power off the PC, after that it's detected and reports the correct size. The highest temperature the drive reached is 47C (i thought it had overheated but SMART reports that temp) Seagate tech support is deaf (as usual). The problem with firmware is giving me headache, why the drive refuses to accept Seagate's firmware (on web for model ST3500620AS), it wont accept ST3500620AS HP13 firmware? The only firmware that passed successful is the one he had "Dell Inspiron 530S Seagate ST3500620AS LF S2 HDD Firmware A01" reported by Seagate tools as DE13 (which according to Dell is corrected firmware version free of bugs) Do you u have any tools in mind that could help me make further analysis or any suggestions ? Thanks for previous tips!
  3. I have Seagate HDD model : ST3500620AS, SN: 9QM3NSQZ with curent firmware FW: DE13. The drive curently has no OS, and i dont have any important data on it. The problem is, when i try to partition, format or operate in most cases it stops working. If i "warm" reset pc the HDD no longer recognized and I need to perform "cold" boot after which it listed in bios. At all time when it's detected it reports accurate size of 500Gb. I cant apply the firmware from Seagate site co-responding to this model/SN (i'm getting error message).. Hence I'm not the first owner, I'm little confused about the firmware version because on the HDD casing it states that original Firmware is LC11 ! I Other than this SN and Model match using SeaTools utility. Tools show that Drive is Security Freeze locked and SMART has not been tripped. I have read the previous post(97 pages, and the other ones too) and cannot determine is it BSY, LBA0 or some other type of error(how can it be if firmware is DE13) ?!!? Do you have any sugestions? p.s. I found simmilarity in behavior in two previous posts, but in none of them there are no comments on problem: http://www.msfn.org/board/seagate-7200-11-...ms-t137851.html the part of bad sectors, HDD regenerator sometimes reports all sectors starting from sector 0 are bad (painfully slow), and sometimes no bad sectors are reported. And in the second one the description to problem seems very similar to mine http://www.msfn.org/board/suggestions-seag...as-t137565.html
