  1. Hi, everyone.

This problem has simply stumped me. I cannot find the solution anywhere on the web, although many have posted on the problem. So, far no forum has provided a solution. So, here is the problem.

I have Acrobat 7 installed on Win XP SP2 system. For some reason, somehow, I don't know what triggers Acrobat 7 to start displaying the error "Cannot Find or Create the font XXXXXX" and then when the document opens, that font is not displayed. All the other fonts are displayed except that font.

The font that does not display is a system font like Arial and Times New Roman. It is not an embedding problem because on another system with Acrobat 7, the file displays correctly.

Uninstalling completely and reinstalling does not solve the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only solution is for me to roll back my system (using Norton Ghost backup that I have). But again, something triggers it to stop displaying those fonts again.

It also happens with the Reader 7.

    Anyone has a solution????????????????????????????

  2. What's a silent install? What is the benefit of a silent install?

The /S/v/qn switch which is given by the help doesn't work.

It also would be a great help, to have the update as msi-file, but I couldn't find it.

I noticed an .msi response has been posted for you,

but I'd like to clarify hj_fr's post.

    Acro-Reader_703_Update.exe /S /v/qn

Note the space between the S and following /

I did a quickie command line run of 7.0.3 update with your original post (acted like a normal install Next next..) but hj_fr's line (with the space) installed just fine. It installed so quickly that I uninstalled and reinstalled the update with qb just to see the progress bar! About-> Reader verified 7.0.3 update took!

  3. This is an interesting occurence. Anyone experience the same thing I did?

I used Norton Ghost to backup my current Windows XP SP2 installation. Then I installed Windows Vista. Everything runs fine; system is stable and fast except for a few apps that won't install in Windows Vista.

So I created a Ghost image of Vista and rolled back to XP SP2 because I needed to run those apps which did not run in Vista. However, upon rolling back, my internet connection and network sharing does not work anymore and the system slowed down!! I can't figure it out.

So then I went back to Vista using Ghost again and internet works. So I rolled back to XP SP2 and internet doesn't work and it's slow. I have no idea what's going on.

What did Vista do to my system that will not allow XP SP2 to function??

    Computer Specs:

Asus p5gdc with intel 3.0 ghz processor

    pioneer dvd-rw

    512 mb ram

    on board video card

what else do you need to know?

  4. Hi,

having some problems, i fixed my slow internet problems by unticking automatically detects settings.

Internet Explorer -> Connections -> Lan Settings -> untick automatically detect settings...

Hope it help someone out there.

Hey, I'm having the same problem as the first guy. It happens when I start America Online. Everything freezes. I have to reboot. It's very annoying.

I disabled all the security features (firewall, etc) and also the services, yet the problem does not go away.

I cannot even get to the task manager to check the CPU processes.

I do not have any firewall installed or antivirus installed.

I slipstreamed SP2 on an SP1 cd then fresh installed.

The best solution------fresh installed SP1 again------ no more problems!!!!! Good old SP1.

There is one curiosity, however. I'm using a U.S. Robotics modem. With SP1, when modem dials out, it makes no dialing tone noise. With SP2, it does make the dialing tone noise... maybe something to do with driver??

  5. I totally agree...I'm cursing my computer with AOL, but 2 reasons. First, I don't need high speed internet. I'm cool with dial-up...just need to check email and occassionally browse. Second, I use the free internet 2 months, hehe. Oh, btw I created a Norton Ghost installation before AOL installation so I can roll back to before AOL installation state.

  6. Does anyone use America Online 9.0 dial-up with SP2?

I have an issue with AOL 9 and SP2. Whenever I start AOL 9, it dials fine, but then internet explorer hangs, all the applications hang--none of them work. nothing works AFTER I start AOL. I disabled windows firewall and all the new security features but still same problem.

I have no clue what is causing it.

Anyone have same problem? Anyone no cause?

    Let me know. thanks.
