The /download_to or /download_cache option of WuInstall (http://www.wuinstall.com) does about the same, download_to copies from the internal cache, download_cache uses the URLs as you do. Trial version can be downloaded from there, maybe you are interested in comparing results. Your question about the psf-Files: we found that they are not neccessary for the updates to be installed, so WuInstall skips them

Maybe WuInstall (http://www.wuinstall.com) which is a command line tool which uses the Windows Update API (you might want to call it a "Windows Update API command line wrapper"), however it has some very nice features beyond this is helpful for you. On WuInstall.com you also find a documentation and a Howto. I think WuInstall can at least help you with point 1-3 ad 1) Try the /offline Switch of WuInstall - you can detect already installed updates with it ad 2) Try the /download_to option ad 3) WuInstall /search (if you want with a addtional criteria option for the query languate you mentioned, or just filter by product or text with the product, severity match etc. option)

Try Wuinstall - http://www.wuinstall.com ... there you also find a documentation If the machine which is setup unattended has access to your WSUS or the Windows Update Site, WuInstall /install should be fine ... you can control which updates to install for example with the /match or /matchfile switch Or you can even cache the updates on an unattended install disk with the /install_cache option.

You can do about the same without much programming, using WuInstall (http://www.wuinstall.com) and the /matchfile or /nomatchfile option. WuInstall uses basically the same API, but with many options, including getting a list of approved update from a file.
