  1. I know this may sound paranoid guys but i think it's a strange coincidence, there's a guy that lives on my street, he doesn't live there permanently probably on business etc but every single time he is home and i'm talking like about 8 occasions now my computer runs slow i.e in the task manager cpu is between 40 and 50% when i'm not running anything plus the memory usage is about 100 or so MB up too, and also the other day on the firewall status a strange country of origin popped up as soon as i booted up - what seemed like a central asian country it also had N/A for remote address....i didn't even have any browers up and running either.......then after that my router stopped working so i unplugged it and restarted it then it was ok but i decided to do a system restore but it hasn't worked....i've done a virus scan and spyware scan plus rootkit scan but to no avail......i've heard he can do it remotely somehow without my virus scanner and everything else detecting it. lots of people including my family have said it is strange. Anyone know what I can do? thanks guys, Gary
  2. Hi guys I was just wondering whether this right or not, i've just upgraded my RAM from 2gb to 4gb, now it seems to me that my memory usage has gone up for some reason as i am typing this it says 20 under where it says cached in the task manager and in the green it says 820mb but when i had 2gb installed it rarely went above around 630mb. so guys is this normal after upgrading RAM or should i have tweaked my system beforehand? thanks. Gary
  3. Not sure what you mean by the same language, I updated it from Windows updates and no I did not vLite my Vista install
  4. There are a few reasons why a laptop overheats: *What surface are you using it on? if it is a bed or a couch etc you are blocking the circulation around the laptop *Is the laptop close to something that is blocking the vents? if I was you I would use a laptop stand which will lift your laptop off the surface and encourage cool air to flow.
  5. Hello guys, last week I tried in vain to install SP2 but I got this message after it tried to install it: Some changes could not be completed. 6. Hi johnhc, in reply to your questions XP has never been installed on this machine and yes Vista is still installed, I don't know how to find XP drivers and I have never used nLite just it was suggested to me to 'slipstream' some sata drivers onto my XP installation disk to see if that works.
  7. Hi guys I recently tried to reinstall XP onto my preinstalled Vista laptop but it seems I cannot do it, I have heard that to put XP onto an original Vista machine I have to use nLite or similar software to transfer some sort of files over *brain overloaded* . here are the messages below: "Setup was unable to load support for the mass storage device you specified currently. Setup will load support for the following mass storage device(s)" <none> After that I had the option of hitting return to continue setup which I did then it seemed to load a few drivers....keyboard etc, realtek and so on then i got a blue screen of death which said the following. "A problem has been detected and windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer" Stop: 0x0000007B (0xf78D2324, 0xc0000054, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 So do I have to use nLite to install XP onto this machine? if so can someone give me a guide as how to do this it would be greatly appreciated as I do not have a clue and if you need my BIOS information or anything else let me know. Thanks, Gary.
