these are the drivers im currently trying to use....http://downloadmirror.intel.com/17413/eng/f6flpy3288.zip i just finished testing those using my original XP cd on my virtual machine. i loaded them onto a floppy and did it the classic F6 way... first i loaded up the 2 ESB drivers, then i loaded the ICH10D/DO and the ICH10R (both of which i got the message saying that windows already has a driver that can be used blah blah BS) got the same thing... Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer.... so im kind of led to believe that that theres something screwy with those drivers or theres somethign screwy with the way VirtualBox handles SATA AHCI.... as many times as i have used my original windows XP source disk to do installs, i have always had to just specify 1 driver with F6... EDIT: im fairly convinced that it has something to do with the VM cause i used the drivers that came with my mobo CD and its still doin the same BS... the first time i used nLite for a CD build it worked perfectly... but the VM was configured as IDE... so yeah... i dunno if anyone else uses Suns virtual box but if youre bored enough and want a headache maybe try to emulate what im doing *shrug* need a drink

strange.... instead of adding all the SATA drivers.... i added the first 2 (ESB2 SATA AHCI Controller & ESB2 SATA RAID Controller) and added ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller and later tried all the SATA/RAID drivers with ICH10 in it, since my motherboard specifies that it does in fact use a ICH10R chipset..... but when i integrate those into my build, its still coming up with the crap saying that windows did not detect a hard disk blah blah..... so i went through the drivers one at a time and tried each to see which one works.... the ICH8RDHDO got me further.... im just wondering why its not accepting the ICH10 driver.... when i check my device manager on my current system, its using that controller... but alas.... its still looping the installation... It exposes a Windows bug" what bug do you speak of? not familiar with that one. im using virtual box for my VM, and i do the same, make an ISO and just point it to that. my MoBos uses the ICH10R controller driver, guess i could just select that one hah. about to try a new build now so i will keep you posted. thanks for the help by the way

sorry about the pasting.... didnt realize you had an attachment upload here. the hang problem was in fact caused by me choosing ACPI multiprocessor.... so i switched that back to automatic.... right now its stuck in a continuous setup loop that im trying to work out. as for the old last session config file.... its deleted. wiped all and started fresh. but if i have future problems i will attach the actual file EDIT: ok yeah i cant figure out the reason for the constant setup/install loop. my VMs "bios" is set to boot from the hard drive first. iv tried 2 different CD builds, one that has the "push any key to boot from cd" and one that doesnt... have uploaded my inf files LAST_SESSION.INI LAST_SESSION__205506.18_17.56.27_.INI

I think i might have figured out what it is. On the unattend setup i chose ACPI multiprocessor, switched it back to automatic and setup got past the stuck point.... bug maybe? its being tested on a VM so its probably not a 100% hardware simulation

Im currently making a new XP home install CD, as the one i have is a 2002 version (sp1). Im integrating SP3 and integrating my intel sata ahci drivers. Im setting it up as a unattended installation and testing it on my xVM virtual machine... it keeps hanging on the Setup is starting Windows part of the installation. after lots of trial and error i tracked it down to something im doing with the unattend part and im thinking it has something to do with the OEM preinstall being disabled/enabled and it conflicting with some other setting im using. if anyone can tell me what i need to post or ellaborate on i would appreciate it... also, does anyone here use zone alarm antivirus? iv noticed that i cant run nlite with ZA running or else it will freeze my machine.... iv tried allowing it in the trusted zone but still nothing... thanks ~Vhal
