  1. FYI, my new nlite CD worked perfect. Did a format and freash install and only have the updates I intentionally left out. The new version of SNMsynth seems to work and do what I need it to do. Thanks much.
  2. Thanks Strel. Everything seemes to work fine with the new version. You can look at my last attachment to see what files I processed but it's basically an up-to-date 1&2 addon for nlite. I added the .7z file after 60 or so other hotfixes, no problems there as someone earlier suggested. Windows update doesn't list it as me needed it. It appears, atleast for my needs, that your latest version works perfectly. I haven't compared file versions or gone indepth to make sure all the hotfixes were applied correctly during the windows install but for now, I'll just assume they have. I've also noticed that firefox .NET assistant update is missing in Automatic updates. Huzzah for who ever made that one happen. Was really getting tired of looking at it. Thanks again for all the hard work.
  3. Alright.... I changed that option back and your right. A second command window came up that said it was converting to a 7zip file and indeed I now have a "DNF11SP120SP230~4%DNF30LNGSTR35~4%DNF35LNGSTR.7z" in the OUT1 directory. Sorry about jumping the gun but I could have sworn I used that option because I specifically read the comments. We'll see how the nlite integration and format/fresh install goes with regards to KB974417 still showing up on Automatic Updates or not. Thanks again Strel for your hard work on SNMsynth PROCESSDATA.TXT
  4. I did try that setting. Gave me the same error and also an .exe file, which I expected a 7zip file like previous versions. Let me try it again but I'm positive I had T13ADDON=YES the first time around. It produced an .exe which nlite refused to use.... Thanks for the help strel...
  5. Something isn't right for me.... I've tried various settings in the SNM config file but nlite just refuses to add it. It'll work for 30 or 40 seconds like everything is OK but then I always get that error... --- WORK FOLDER CONTENT: Volume in drive C has no label. 6. That's good news. I really didn't feel like messing around with a registry hack so I've been holding off on making my new CD. strel, your hard work on SNM is much appreciated. It really is.
  7. Ok. Thanks. I assume you mean to add 'regedit' as a runonce command and point it to the above *.reg file on the installation media? I'll give it a try.
  8. Forgive me guys for not being up to speed with what you are talking about. I'm using silent .net maker for a combined .NET 1 and 2 addon pack for nlite. And yes, KB974417 is still showing up under automatic updates even tho SNM reported that it was processed. What exactly is the fix for nlite/SNM so you don't have to screw with anything after a fresh install? [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Products\DC3BF90CC0D3D2F398A9A6D1762F70F3\Patches\9E0DE89293FE9BB33898F24ED18CCF08] "MSI3"=dword:00000001 "State"=dword:00000001 "LUAEnabled"=dword:00000000 "PatchType"=dword:00000000 "DisplayName"="KB974417" "MoreInfoURL"="http://www.microsoft.com/" "Uninstallable"=dword:00000000 Can I make nlite add the above reg key? Forgive me, but I'm not too good with this stuff yet....
  9. Thanks for the info John. I'll have to try it again. I noticed MS came out with an update for IE8 recently that might have addressed some issues with better backwards compatibility with IE7 and displaying web pages. I could have sworn I tried adding the installer for WMP11 directly to nlite and it said it wasn't a hotfix and couldn't add it due to the fact that it was a straight up installer. I think that's the same thing nlite is saying about the .NET assistant for firefox. I'll have to go back and try it. Honestly, it is a little time consuming doing the multiple stage approach. I mudlled through figuring out nlite on my own and have made about 20 disks over the past few months (along with 20 format/fresh installs) and I found something that works so am reluctant to switch it up now. BTW, nlite is a great piece of software. Been enjoying it thoroughly. . With all the hotfixes integrated along with all my OS tweaks that I like to do, I have nothing to do but install software once I hit the desktop. Really nice and saves alot of time.
  10. Yea.... It's buggy as hell IMO. First time I ran it, it froze on me and I had to kill the process (This was a windows update install, not slipstreamed). It might have even BSOD on me, I forget. Then when I tried to use it again, ALOT of web pages wouldn't display under it. Just your typical hair-brained release by Microsoft. Nothing new on their part, I just choose to leave it out of the mix. I don't use IE7 either (I use firefox), but I want a fully updated IE7 regardless so I apply all the updates. Regarding my failed KB971961 slipstream..... I was grabbing the wrong file again. Was using the v5.6 instead of the v5.7.... That pretty much leaves the .NET assistant for firefox putting up a fight under nlite...
  11. That could be it if you are referring to WMP11 Slipstreamer.... I don't recall seeing any information about adding the hotfixes in a certain order so I just added them all in one go (however they were alphabetized, SHIFT+LCLICK). Got on the web and saw many posts of other people complaining about the same problem and the response was always "don't use WMP11 Slipstreamer to add your hotfixes. Use Nlite instead". So that's what I do. However, if you don't add them in the correct order to nlite, I will get the same problem with a hosed install. Regarding all the hotfixes listed on their site..... I used to apply them all but I decided to just integrate WMP11 to see what hotfixes were listed on automatic update and about 2/3rds of what they list can't even be found on windows update (applicable to my install). So I quit using their list of updates and now I just install what windows update reports that I need, which include but are possibly not limited to: WindowsMedia11-kb936782-x86-ENU.exe ---\ Add first WindowsMedia11-kb939683-x86-ENU.exe ---/ WindowsMedia11-kb929399-v2-x86-intl.exe ---> Add second (this is the important one with the new .dll file that the next ones need) WindowsMedia11-KB954154-x86-ENU.exe ---\ WindowsMedia11-KB959772-x86-ENU.exe ---/ Add third As far as the order of everything goes, I'll go ahead and document it but I do it in multiple stages. Each "stage" is a complete restart of nlite. 1.) Start with a virgin SP0 source and slipstream SP3 2.) Use WMP11 Slipstreamer w/ tweaks & no hotfixes on new SP3 source 3.) Back to nlite to add these: Again, I SHIFT+CLICK to add. I assume nlite is smart enough to explode IE7 before even attempting the IE7 hotfixes. Windows update reports that IE7 is up-2-date so I naturally assume so. The 7z is a silent installer for a fully updated .NET 1&2. The .ini is DirectX-MAR-2009. Powershell is in there somewhere as well. The rest are just "critical" and "other" updates as listed on Windows Update. 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 792,104 IE7-WindowsXP-KB938127-v2-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:15 PM 9,183,632 IE7-WindowsXP-KB963027-x86-ENU.exe 06/10/2009 01:05 PM 9,222,016 IE7-WindowsXP-KB969897-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:17 PM 15,452,536 IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 5,687,304 msxml4-KB954430-enu.exe 05/28/2009 12:15 PM 1,264,016 WindowsXP-KB923561-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 1,309,552 WindowsXP-KB938464-v2-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:17 PM 2,166,832 WindowsXP-KB941569-x86-ENU.EXE 05/28/2009 12:17 PM 528,424 WindowsXP-KB946648-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:17 PM 559,144 WindowsXP-KB950762-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:17 PM 594,984 WindowsXP-KB950974-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:17 PM 817,704 WindowsXP-KB951066-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:17 PM 605,224 WindowsXP-KB951376-v2-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:17 PM 1,090,600 WindowsXP-KB951748-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:15 PM 1,025,064 WindowsXP-KB952004-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:17 PM 532,520 WindowsXP-KB952954-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 577,576 WindowsXP-KB953155-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 1,248,808 WindowsXP-KB954459-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 606,064 WindowsXP-KB954600-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 926,760 WindowsXP-KB955069-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 4,574,080 WindowsXP-KB956572-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 639,856 WindowsXP-KB956802-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 570,408 WindowsXP-KB956803-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 725,360 WindowsXP-KB957097-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 648,560 WindowsXP-KB958644-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 658,288 WindowsXP-KB958687-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 1,466,768 WindowsXP-KB958690-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 845,712 WindowsXP-KB959426-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 569,712 WindowsXP-KB960225-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 671,088 WindowsXP-KB960803-x86-ENU.exe 07/16/2009 11:24 AM 569,208 WindowsXP-KB961371-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 1,043,824 WindowsXP-KB961373-x86-ENU.exe 06/10/2009 01:08 PM 662,896 WindowsXP-KB961501-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 3,140,992 WindowsXP-KB967715-x86-ENU.exe 06/10/2009 01:07 PM 1,466,768 WindowsXP-KB968537-x86-ENU.exe 06/10/2009 01:07 PM 878,464 WindowsXP-KB970238-x86-ENU.exe 07/16/2009 11:25 AM 1,044,856 WindowsXP-KB971633-x86-ENU.exe 07/16/2009 11:24 AM 498,544 WindowsXP-KB973346-x86-ENU.exe 05/28/2009 12:16 PM 7,717,256 WindowsXP-WindowsMedia-KB952069-v2-x86-ENU.exe 05/29/2009 07:47 PM 488,176 WindowsXP-KB898461-x86-ENU.exe 05/29/2009 07:30 PM 555,072 WindowsXP-KB923789-x86-ENU.exe 05/29/2009 07:29 PM 497,192 WindowsXP-KB950760-x86-ENU.exe 05/29/2009 07:30 PM 1,129,000 WindowsXP-KB951978-x86-ENU.exe 05/29/2009 07:47 PM 657,960 WindowsXP-KB952287-x86-ENU.exe 05/29/2009 07:20 PM 523,120 WindowsXP-KB955839-x86-ENU.exe 05/29/2009 07:20 PM 498,032 WindowsXP-KB960715-x86-ENU.exe 06/10/2009 11:53 PM 497,528 WindowsXP-KB969898-x86-ENU.exe 03/18/2009 05:48 PM 1,693,224 Windowsxp-kb926139-v2-x86-ENU.exe 05/31/2009 01:54 PM 27,007,432 DNF1120SP230~4,3%DNF30LNGSTR35~4,3%DNF35LNGSTR.7z 03/23/2009 05:06 PM 172 entries_dxrt32.ini 08/06/2007 08:58 PM 5,809,056 WindowsMedia11-kb936782-x86-ENU.exe 08/20/2007 03:59 PM 561,568 WindowsMedia11-kb939683-x86-ENU.exe 4.) I'm having issues with integrating KB971961 and KB963707 at the moment. Hopefully I can pin those down soon. Haven't done a fresh install to see if my IE7 hotfix works. That's what I'm about to do now. Thanks for the input Kelsenellenelvian.
  12. Sorry, but..... Been there done that. Adding the hotfixes via WMP11 Slipstreamer gives you the same issue with missing .dll files during the Windows install and a completely borked OS once you hit the desktop. I'm using the latest version so I don't see how it could have magically fixed itself. I've got my own system via stages and it works rather well but thanks all the same.
  13. Thanks John for the reply. I have not slipstreamed IE8. The description under automatic updates says "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 7 for windows XP (KB972260)". Looks like I have somehow grabbed the wrong hotfix. The file is "WindowsXP-KB972260-x86-ENU.exe" which is probably for IE6. Refined my KB search and I should have been using "IE7-WindowsXP-KB972260-x86-ENU.exe" from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en I'm sure that will fix it. Thanks. About doing everything in one pass.... I've found that to be impossible with regards to slipstreaming WMP11 and all related hotfixes. The SDK needs to be applied before one or 2 others else you'll get errors all throughout the install process (which are well documented on the web) resulting in a hosed install. I actually do many passes and then load a config file that has just my OS tweaks so posting a config will probably do you no good. Thanks for the heads up on that tho.
  14. Well... Just can't figure it out. That hotfix always still shows up in automatic updates even though I've integrated it via the hotfix stage in nlite... Has anyone ran across this? Thanks!
