  1. Thanks guys. Im trying the asus site again for a driver update. Nervous about bios updating, but if need be I'll hold my breath and dive in. i'll play with the ram swapping. could be a heat issue too, its hot under the hood for sure. i need to burn these **** mp3s and maybe pull a hd or two thats holding them now...
  2. I will try to be breif as possible and include hopefully enough info to get some feedback. I have an asus a7v, athelon thunderbird 850 processor, three 256 mb ram that was originally built with win 98 installed. upgraded os to win home xp. after about 4 months of essentially trouble free bliss started having serious stops appear involving irq not equal messages. one day would not reboot becasue it couldnt find the op system (hive errors) ms support walked me thru how to restore an earlier registry to get past that. errors continue. again had the cant find os. this time did total complete wipe (reformat) and did clean install just to have a fresh start. still errors. for giggles, reduced ram to the original 256. its more stable, but occasional stop occurs... oddly enough when using internet explorer and on a web site like sportsline.com fantasy football using features that i suspect are java based. anyway... asus does not appear to have a xp update driver for the a7v kt133 im running. the IT guy at work thinks the board is just not supported for xp and therin lies my troubles. thoughts? i hate to buy a new board if its not nec. could be the other two ram cards are bad? but they worked for about a year with no prob. i clearly have an unstable system with them installed.
