  1. Can anyone reproduce this and suggest a workaround? These are the steps to reproduce, I'm using Microsoft Office Word 2003 (11.8237.8221) SP3. 1. Open Notepad and paste in the following: "SEC_Agreement_Ref","Sub_ID","Plant_ID","Agreement_Plant_ID","Client_Name","Sub_Name","Circuit_Label","Inspection_Frequency","Serial_Numba","Sub_Namq","Generic_Plant_Description","Type_Desc","Serial_Number","Manfact_Name","Comment","Date_Inspected","Engineer_Name","Report_Examined_By","Report_Examined_Date","Data1","Data2","Data3","Data4","Data5","Data6","Data7","Data8","Data9","Data10","Data11","Data12","Data13","Data14","Data15","Data16","Data17","Data18","Data19","Data20","Data21","Data22","Data23","Data24","Data25","Data26","Data27","Data28","Data29","Da" "","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","" 2. Save this as a CSV file. 3. Open Word, click the Open Data Source button (in the Mail Merge tool bar) and browse to the file you created. 4. On the Confirm Data Source box, check 'Show all' and then double-click 'Text Files (*.txt)' from the list. 5. Everything is fine so far. Close word and open the CSV file in Notepad again. Change the "Dat" at the end of the first line to "Data30". Save and close the file. 6. Repeat steps 3 and 4. 7. Why am I being asked for the character encoding?!
