  1. Apparently the UNOFFICIAL W2K patch made by tomasz86 on or about July 2008 from the equivalent XP patch was called: Windows2000-KB954193-x86-Global.exe Apparently it used to be available at http://www.mediafire.com/?a1c2ocb0a2nqtc5 but is apparently no longer available. I found reference to the patch from bristols at: http://bristols.zxq.net/windows2000/updates/ Does anyone have it? Thanks. Conway Yee
  2. A further suggestion... In step 6, after extracting all the CABS, perhaps you could be a bit more specific in placing them in HFCABS. I think the end of the paragraph where you specifically specify BDANT.CAB and DXNT.CAB is redundant. These two CABS are in the installer AND do not have the "64" string in the name. Thanks. Conway Yee
  3. I was suing the FDV fileset and encountered an unimportant bug. The generated iso works but the W2K install complains that reboot.exe can not be copied. If I tell the install to ignore the file, everything subsequently goes properly. I tracked it down as far as I can. If I place reboot.exe (a utility written for the fileset and thus is NOT Microsoft's) in sources/i386, the complaint goes away. Can anyone confirm? Thanks. Conway Yee
  4. The site in question is http://www.vorck.com/windows/2ksp5.html In step 9, WINNT.SIF is supposed to be placed in D:\HFSLIP\REPLACE. Perhaps you meant D:\HFSLIP\REPLACE\i386 ? In step 13, perhaps more explicit instructions on where to find XCHM would be better? In step 14, the link "HFEXPERT Folder, click here" appears to be a dead link. Thanks. Conway Yee
  5. You need mkisofs.exe in HFTOOLS. http://fy.chalmers.se/~appro/linux/DVD+RW/...n32/mkisofs.exe is one location where you can find it. Good luck. Conway Yee

    Fileset 9, all done

Neither having uniata.sys in FDVFILES nor i386 eliminates the error message. On both cases attempted install of the generated ISO (on a virtual machine) results in the error message ************************************* Windows 2000 Setup The entry "uniata.sys" in the [sourceDisksFiles] section of the INF file is corrup or missing. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit. ************************************** The problem may be a user error on my part. Can anyone confirm or refute?

uniata.sys is commented out in both locations. The error still occurs when the CD is used to install.

    Fileset 9, all done

Error message: The entry "uniata.sys" in the [sourceDisksFiles] section of the INF file is corrupt or missing. Setup cannot continue. Press any key to exit. I notice that the entry is commented out in layout.inf. The prior file did NOT have it commented out. I tried uncommenting out the line without success.

    hfslip and driverpacks

I attempted to use the sp5files-srv.zip to generate a ISO. SOURCESS is recognized by driverpacks as posted above. The ISO assumes that i386 is from w2k server. Likely, the identification files on the root is incorrect. When booted, I am asked for the W2K Server CD in drive A:

Preliminary results of testing. I have not yet had the chance to attempt slipstream. It is too late tonight. Running on SOURCE, driverpack reports : OS: Windows 2000 Professional - SP4 Running on SOURCESS, driverpack reports : OS: Windows 2000 Server - SP4. The results were derived from replacing the 20 files in the new set from the 41 files in the original set. Running on SOURCESS, driver pack reports : OS: Windows 2000 Server - SP4. The results wre derived from using ONLY the 20 files in the new set. In summary, the new FDV fileset changes the OS version. When I have the chance, I will see if the anomaly matters in the slightest although there is some software out there that will not load on Windows 2000 Server but will on Windows 2000 Profesional.

Very strange. I thought the new fdvfiles did the trick. It may very well have. I worked on other things but when I went back, the same errors occurred. What exactly was changed in the new fdvfile set so that I can try to figure out what happened? Thanks.

Thanks. The new fdv fileset seems to have done the trick.

Thanks for the quick responses. I did confirm that HFSLIP works without the FDV fileset. I will try to download the new fileset to see if it helps. Once again, thanks for the help
  14. I have used hfslip 1.7.8, the latest fdvfiles as well as the windows 2000 patch list from the_guy to generate a working updated CD. I then attempted to use the driverpacks base 8.12.4 to add all the additional latest drivers. This does not work. I think it the step, Select location of platform. I point to the SOURCESS directory and get the error message: OS: WHY-DOESNT-THIS-HAVE-A-VALUE When I point to the original SOURCE directory, I have no error message OS: Windows 2000 Professional - SP4 What am I missing
