  1. Yeah that was my thinking, i mean, $70 is over half it costs for a new game, so i think ill downgrade to Hardened and put that money towards Assassins Creed 2 or something.
  2. Those look pretty good. Its good to know that there are actually decent NVGs that are marketed at a low price, not just a one-off with these where they are cheaply made and will break in a flat second. I actually did go into the game store and ordered the Prestige Edition. Still tossing up whether or not its worth getting, but at least i have the choice to downgrade if i later change my mind. I'm pretty lucky, i have a good PC and an Xbox so i get to enjoy the best of both worlds. Seems a shame that they aren't marketed towards PC though, IW could make a nice a nice amount of money from that I reckon. As you said in the COD4 Maps Thread, COD 4 was a console game primarily, and MW 2 appears as if it will be the same. In my opinion this is a major loss for them. Despite the fact I haven't really enjoyed COD, COD3 or COD 5, I have to admire the fact that Treyarch has marketed their games for all of the platforms (well COD5 at least).
  3. So, the next installment in the Call of Duty series (although it doesn't carry its name), Modern Warfare 2 is released on the 10th November. For those of you that don't know, there's 3 game packs to choose from. 1) Standard Edition. Plastic case, one disk. $120 AUD 2) Hardened Edition. Game comes in a steel Book (case), along with an artwork book and a token to download the first COD from Xbox 360/PS3's specific stores. $130 AUD. 3) Prestige Edition. Contains all of the hardened edition, but includes a set of "fully operational" Night Vision goggles, as well as a Head stand for them. $200 AUD. Now, to my question The Night vision goggles are marketed as being "fully operational". While i don't doubt they are, I'd question their reliability. Obviously they wouldn't cost a lot of money to manufacture, otherwise IW would be losing money. Does anyone know anything about the particulars of them? What they're made up of, and how reliable they actually would be? Cheers
  4. That game has a lot of potential as i see it. There arent really any popular MMOFPS's floating around that Ive heard of, so its going to be interesting to see if it can succeed where many others have failed. The name is strange. Sounds more like a description. In my opinion it would have been better with a fictional title, or something less to the point. That said, its not like that really detracts from the game itself. The biggest hurdle I can see here is platform. To have it solely for PS3 could be what ruins the game ultimately. -Accessibility. Most people these days have PC's with Internet access, and there would be a decent amount of the population that would have computers powerful enough to run that. Less people would have PS3, so that limits the market quite a lot. -Plus some others i might add later. Best of luck to it, it seems interesting, and i hope the devs can come up with good solutions for the possible problems that the game presents. I can almost guarantee you that it will. If there's a monthly subscription fee then that may deter some people, but from what Ive seen from World of Warcraft (i know its a bit different, but the concept is the same), the game will likely fill up with a bunch of inexperienced and ultimately not very good players over time. The outset is probably when you will have the best non-newb experience, so make the most of it. Edit = Just realised all of what the information said =\.
  5. Ive never heard of any of those songs you're listening to Tripredacus... maybe i just don't listen to a wide enough range of music. Normally I listen to 70s and 80s type stuff... Queen, ACDC, Led Zepplin, Van Halen just to name a few. At the moment however, im listening to the Pure Pwnage Season 1 Soundtrack. Gets me in the zone before i start gaming. Main tracks at the moment: Fps Doug's Theme Ep8 Remix, Blender (although Ive no idea which episode its from ), and Just Twist the Knife. Good before some CS:S .
  6. AT the moment: PC: World of Warcraft. Have been since 2004. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars Soon: Counter Strike: Source Crysis Warhead. Xbox 360: Fable 2 Halo 3 Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 When they are released: Halo 3: ODST Assassins Creed 2 Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2
  7. Gotta say MMORPG, I'm a huge fan of World of Warcraft, been playing since 2004. Close second would be FPS's, Halo: Combat Evolved was the first video game i really got into, back in 2001. Personally i don't see a humongous issue with MMORPG's, i mean, if you want to play Xbox live, you need to pay for that. To me, the whole "I don't want to pay after I've bought the games" is sort of like saying "I don't want to pay for the internet because I've bought the modem". Having said that MMORPG's are my favourite, that's just because I like World of Warcraft so much. That's the only MMORPG I play . Definitely play more FPS's: Halo 1+2+3, Far Cry 2, COD4 (and soon 5), Bioshock, etc...
  8. My family used to have it, but then we upgraded our computer (about 4 years back, so not PC i have at the moment), and we weren't able to download it again. I'm sort of glad we didn't, as we don't need to leave our computer on overnight any more.
  9. LOL Makes me laugh every time. Better if you watch the clip as well. Go Garry's Mod!
  10. Edit: To sound less hostile (sorry), and add better content. Generally the people that say that your computer is crap are trying to offer up the best option you can have. I agree that this is the best course of action, however there are other things that you can do to try to fix your problems (of which i can only offer a little advice about as I'm not that much of a tech head .). Here are the things i would suggest that you do. 1) Do a virus scan, make sure there's nothing sitting there screwing stuff up. 2) Check for programs running in the background. You may have a whole lot of crap running that doesnt need to be on (Things like Windows Live [MSN], Skype etc...). 3) Look at how much stuff you have on your PC as a whole. Is there a lot of things there (especially things that you dont use)? If so, formatting could help. Those could all help, but i would still recommend upgrading, there's so much more that you can do with a new PC. Good Luck.
  11. Sorry, off topic, but may i ask why you are so hesitant to upgrade? I mean, 10 years... in the computer world thats a fair while. At one stage or another you are going to need to get a better system, things will advance so far that your PC will be able to do very little. Why wait so long?
  12. Hey all, thought id say hi, got a friend who uses this forum and raves about it every day, so i finally succumbed and registered. I have a reasonable understanding of computers, but i cant see myself contributing much yet(except maybe in the gaming section), probably more of me asking questions . Look forward to getting to know the community! Edit: Thought i might post my PC specs, just in case you're curious. Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L VC: Nvidia Geforce 9600GT 512MB CPU: C2D E5200 2.5Ghz OC'd to 2.93 (3.0 was a little too much of a push at the moment) RAM: 2GB (2x1GB) Corsair DDR2 800 in Dual Channel HDD: 500GB Western Digital 5000AAKS (SATA2, 16MB L2 Cache) Case: Coolermaster Elite PSU: 550w Monitor: BenQ E2200 (22"), High Definition, LCD, 2ms refresh rate OS: Windows XP Professional , SP3, customized (using nLite). Mainly I use it for Gaming, at the moment I only have the Crysis demo, Bioshock, World of Goo and a few older ones, but I'lll be getting more soon, including putting World of Warcaft on (played on my old PC). As i note in my signature, I have an Xbox 360. The main game genre i play (across X360 and PC) is FPS, generally Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Far Cry 2. World of Warcraft somehow found its way in through all of the all of the guns, and has stayed ever since . Anyway, thats me!
  13. For me, Modern Warfare. Ive been Playing World War 1&2 themed games for a while now (CoD2, Medal of Honor series etc...), so in campaign it was nice to be able to pick up a stinger launcher and wreak havoc, not to mention being able to use laser sights on guns, and being able to operate the turret of an aircraft. Multiplayer was fantastic too, with the previously mentioned laser sights, and a diverse range of weapons i hadn't used before. CoD4 brought with it an array of new things, whereas 5 had much of the same stuff. Edit: Awesome as! Cant wait.
  14. Having quite a debate with some people i know. They think it is possible to run 4 GTX 295s on the one motherboard. Im pretty sure that this isnt possible. A friend of mine tells me it can be done with certain ATI cards, but not with Nvidia cards. Who is right? What is possible? Thanks.
