  1. It looks like you skipped several steps. Did you do everything described here?
  2. Try swapping the RX & TX connections. I think the OP had them labeled incorrectly.Test your cable by connecting the cable's RX & TX together to form a loopback connection. Confirm that you can see what you type when you do this. CTRL-Z should be CTRL-z (don't hold the shift key). I wrote about my own experience fixing my drive here. You may find it helpful. I've included several pictures too.
  3. After reading through this entire thread a couple of times, I was able to successfully resurrect my hard drive. I've decided to try to document my experience with pictures and commentary. Hopefully somebody will find the information useful. Fixing a Seagate 7200.11 Hard Drive Please feel free to make comments & suggestions. Thanks!
