  1. @ mrkimrkonja, WolfDie and others who have the spinup error and your hdd make noises every 5? seconds when you power on your drive and you got this error in the terminal: Error 1009 DETSEC 00006008 Spin Error Elapsed Time 53.959 secs R/W Status 2 R/W Error 84150180 My drive have Bad Head. I have spoken to aviko. I will RMA my drive now data recovery costs to much for me. And i've learned now to make backups every day. At my 1st try to remove the 0LBA the drive works fine but suddenly there was this f***ing error and this noise every 5 seconds. This is so frustrating. Thanks a lot seagate, thanks a lot.

  3. It looks like you skipped several steps. Did you do everything described here? I only got the 0LBA Error, not BSY. Maybe there are both errors on the hdd and i should use the commands for BSY too? I only had got the 0LBA Error, not BSY. But I did all the steps and it work. Ok i will try all the steps.

  5. Ok guys i solved the problem with the garbage characters. After CTRL+z there comes: F3 T> Then i used this command: m0,2,2,0,0,0,0,22 After that i was realy happy because of this: Max Wr Retries = 00, Max Rd Retries = 00, Max ECC T-Level = 00, Max Certify Rewr ite Retries = 0000 User Partition Format Successful - Elapsed Time 0 mins 00 secs F3 T> But if i connect the HDD now to the PC the PC will not boot. There is nothing just a black monitor. If i disconnect the HDD from the PC the PC is booting and i see the BIOS POST. What's wrong here?
  6. What happened when you switch TX and RX? And how the two GNDs are describe on the PCB? Maybe my one got 2 GNDs too.
  7. @pichi I read now that some people use power cables for the hdd without an orange line on the connector. My SATA power cable that i use for the hdd have an orange line. Do you think that can be the problem for the garbage characters in the terminal? What will happened if i disconnect this orange cable at the SATA power connector? Edit: I use a molex to sata adapter and try it. I have garbage characters in the terminal, too. But now i've got garbage characters in the terminal when i disconnect gnd from the hdd. Thats not happened before. Mhhhh crazy stuff
  8. 1. Just burn the new firmware ISO on a CD and boot from it. The update tool will find your drive. 2. Don't open your hdd. The PCB is on the back side.
  9. Sometimes there is a jumper to configure 3GB/1.5GB in this connector. What power supply do you use? At least you need 2A@12V, 2A@5V. There's no jumper on this connector, only my cables. For the HDD i use a SATA power connector from an Enermax Modu82+. This is the only power supply i have here with SATA power connectors. I think the CA-42 cable uses the power from the USB port, 3.3V. I think now this stupid chinese cable is the problem. If nobody can help me i will wait for my RS232 to TTL converter. If the converter doesn't work too i will buy a TTL-232R-3V3 USB for the last chance. If this cable doesn't work too i will smash this f***** seagate hdd against a wall and RMA it. Why do you use batterys on this cable? Doesn't the cable use the power from the USB port on your laptop? I'm using a CA-42 cable without batterys and it will not work. See the posts below from me. If your terminal is in non-echo mode you can't see any character your are typing on the keyboard. You only see these characters in the loopback test. The loopback test only works when you join TX and RX on your data cable. No connections to the hdd!
  10. Which jumper? I connect GND, RX, TX and a SATA power cable to the hdd.
  11. 1.- Can you see if jumper is into 4 pins connector? 2.- You change baudrate, from 38400 to others (sometimes the baudrate is configured to 9600) 1. I dont understand what you mean 2. Yes i changed the baudrate to 9600 and i try other USB ports and i try to connect the GND to the GND from the SATA power cable and i try to slow down the FIFO-Puffer from the COM port and i try all that on another PC. Nothing works i only see these garbage characters. I have no more ideas.
  12. I think that you have connected RX to GND or your cable is wrong. You unconnect the hdd and try null-modem joining RX with TX for check your cable. I try a loopback test with RX and TX wires on the CA-42. The test works. I can see the character in the terminal i typed on the keyboard so the TX and RX i've found on the CA-42 are right. [1234] [sata Data] [sata Power] 1 = empty 2 = GND 3 = TX 4 = RX Nothing happens. 1 = empty 2 = GND 3 = RX 4 = TX Garbage characters. If i disconnect GND nothing happens too.
  13. You check your cable, join RXs with TXs and put correct baudrate: 38400, 8, N, 1, None If i swapp TX and RX nothing happens in the hyper terminal. The baudrate is correct.
  14. I connect TX, RX and GND from my CA-42 cable to the hdd. Than i connect a SATA power cable to the hdd, turn on the power supply and connect the CA-42 to my laptop. But everything i can see is his: Whats wrong?
  15. I have a CA-42 cable here now. Which colors are Rx, TX and GND? Didn't have any multimeter here. Edit: Red = GND White = TX Green = RX
