So, my laptop locks up real bad one day. So I turn it off then on again. On bootup I get the message "Disk Read Error Occured. Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to restart". And of course that doesn't help. So I go into the Windows Recovery Program and run chkdsk /r, fixmbr, and fixboot, all to no avail. chkdsk /r gives me "The volume appears to have one or more unrecoverable problems". I ran some sort of diagnostic in the bios that came with the computer which told me that I had a bunch of bad sectors on my harddrive, but it should still work right? And I know that the harddrive isn't completely shot because: 1) It's less than a year old 2) It's not clicking or doing anything strange 3) I actually had this same exact problems two days before and I was able to fix it with chkdsk /r Can anyone help me out with a way to get back into Windows (XP Pro SP1) and/or get all my files back? And no, I can't connect it as a slave to another machine because it's a laptop...
