  1. The activation key itself isn't the problem, i bought a valid license. The problem is that i can't get to the screen to put in the license!
  2. Hey, my first post, i usually never post these kind of problems because i can usually trawl google for long enough to find a solution, but not this time! Basically. i got a new laptop recently & it had vista installed on it (hp pavilion g70) , i didn't mind it for the first few days but it was having a few problems with some of the programmes i always use & i knew these problems didnt exist on xp. So i decided to install xp over it myself, i had to mess around with a few things on the xp disc using nlite in order to get it to work properly but it worked in the end. Got all the drivers, perfectly working. So used the key that was on my home computer, this worked initially, until recently infact. So strangely, 7 days ago i get the message after i log in "Please activate windows within 7 days" With the yes/no box below. So i went to activate windows again it says that its already activated. I then do a bit of research on google & find out about the oobe timer & de-activating windows with it. So i changed the last figure in the oobe timer to 0 using modify. Then lo & be hold the activate windows command is now working properly. So i click on the lets register windows over the internet now, this brings me to the next screen which is the "do you want to register with microsoft now" And here comes the problem, no matter what i click on yes or no, it will not bring me to the next screen, even if i press the back button, it dosen't bring me back. The exact same thing happens when i do the activate via telephone option. Its as if the buttons themselves aren't working! Ive tried registry mechanic but that did nothing, i want to try the repair xp option using the original cd but i can't get that far, i get the 0x00000007b bsod error whch relates to the setup not being able to detect the hard drive based on what ive read, also ive tried slipstreaming my hard drive config driver into the xp cd using nlite but i still get the same error!! Another thing i wanted to try was my hard drive config in the bios from RAID To/AHCI to RAID Auto/ATA as recommended by a few sites....but i couldn't do this either, it appears that hp have severely limited the uses of the bios here. So a u can see i'm kinda screwed cuz i can't even re install xp, 2 days left! I hope i haven't left anything relevant out or maybe even included too much, try not to flame me too much if ive said nething particularly nooblish! Any responses are much appreciated
