So I just can't use nLite with my system?

Well, I'm totally confused. The OEM XP disc that came with my Dell is somehow linked to the computer's BIOS. That's what I found on Google. I have found 3 different XP product keys linked to my OS. (I guess that's what these numbers are) I used a keyfinder to find the key on my HD. Then there is one in the I386 folder's "unattended.txt" file on the disc itself. And also there is a COA with a product key on the case of my Dell. I wonder if that is the same with a Compaq.

I don't understand how leaving the key blank allowed you to continue your install. Since your system is running, please post a screen shot of its asking for the key. I know this is for olddude, but here's a screenshot of the product key warning that I get on my Dell. The only thing I can think of is what kind of source do you have? Is it OEM, Retail, VLK, recovery or something else? It's an OEM XP Home cd from Dell. It came with my Dimension XPS in 2004. In the "Unattended" settings, I have disabled "Password Exp., disabled Sys Restore, enable Autologon for my user account, and disabled all Password settings.

When you put in your key, does the install progress OK? Yes. When you are asked for the key, does it give any error or reason for asking? No. I assume you did this experiment on a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, did all your work in one nLite session and included only one SP. Yes. Look in your Last Session_u.ini (don't post it) and see if the CDkey is correct. It's the same. Have you tried erasing and keying your key in again in the Unattended task? Yes, but same result.

Thanks for the reply. I have the correct XP product key. So I implemented your advice into another nLite slipstream XP install disc but it still asks for the product key. The last session file is attached as "LAST SESSION2.INI." Now what? LAST_SESSION2.INI

nLite 1.4.9.1 still asks for my XP product key. I used a fresh copy of XP Home Edition with SP 1A install disc, slipstreamed only SP 3, and did all this in one session. I chose "Fully Automatic" install with not one hotfix, tweak or any other change except fixing "Unattended" settings. What's wrong? LAST_SESSION.INI
