  1. Hi there. 5 seconds sounds normal to me, it's around the same time it took for me to update mine (maybe 10 secs, but not more). Any reason you're flashing from a USB stick? Burning onto a CD is simple, quick and easy.
  2. Yes, i guess so. The new firmware is called SD1A, so you're up to date. Glad to hear it went without problems btw, i think i'm gonna have to go through the same procedure today when i get my disc. good luck and thanks for the reply. the procedure is not so complicated, but you only have to dowload and run SeaTools to scan your exact model (write it down somewhere), so you'll be sure which option you should mark while in DOS mode. thanks again. Doesn't DriveDetect.exe work aswell? The one from Seagate customer service page. http://support.seagate.com/kbimg/utils/drivedetect.exe

  4. Correct me if i'm wrong, but is there a risk in upgrading the firmware on the 500gb versions, or have they released a working version yet?
  5. Hi there, i'm from Norway and i don't see my country listed as affected. I do however get a new computer tomorrow with the Seagate 7200.11 500GB, and i got a question. Do i only update the firmware if i get any of these firmwares AD14, SD15, SD16, SD17, SD18, SD19? Or do i have to update no matter what version i got?
