  1. John the iso shows files on my virtual drive but when I tried to burn it to a cd, I used 3 programs, Alcohol, Image Burner and Nlite, all of them stopped and said unable to finish burn but with no error codes. Tried it twice so it wasn't the cd. So I don't know other than maybe I do have some corrupt files.
  2. Well JOHN!! **** lol...it won't burn tried all both ways, the image burner, and my alcohol program. Must be corrupt files somwhere in there. Perhaps I should deleted all the files and start completely over. I can see all my files tho on the virtual drive.
  3. I deleted the previously created ISO and created a new one and now I can see the files on my virtual drive. I integraed SP3 into the Winxp pro cd. The first try I remember I did not creat an ISO. The second time I did create one but it evidently didn't complete because it was a much small file and I could not see any files on my virtual drive or after it burned, the new one I created is 593MB whereas the first one was only 300mb. No it wouldn't let me attach the iso. Ty for your help
  4. ok I have just created an ISO again, this time I can see it. Will try and burn now ty so much for your help
  5. I had 4 of those files, I think @ first I did do that, Last_Session__2008.12.12_16.56.33_.ini
  6. I had 4 of those files, I think @ first I did do that, I have attached my ISO...can u see any files in it?
  7. task accomplished!! I have finally finished a clean install after using that program and formatting the hidden partition. Everything is working fine now! Ty all for your help
  8. I have attached last session. Its not the burner, I have burned several ISO files before and after trying this one, even sent the file to Alcohol-soft their techs say it is corrupt, I burned it twice on the original burner and it showed it burned but nothing is on the disc Last_Session__2008.12.12_16.56.33_.ini
  9. nope lol, burned the image, but was unable to verify it says medium not present, nothing on cd

    ISO corrupt

I followed all the directions, integrated sp3 into winxp, then created ISO. It showed everything went fine no errors. I burned the cd and it burned with no problem. I can see the ISO file but when u open it on the virtual drive there is nothing there. I sent the ISO file to alcohol-soft (mycd burning program) there tech dept looked at it and said there was nothing there in the iso file that it is corrupt because they were able to observe a boot record. How can it be corrupt I used my original cd and downloaded sp from the windows website. Can someone help me with this ty so much
  13. hmm you r right I never have noticed a scroll bar on that option and it only showed the last 2 options...and I have the original winxp cd. as far as hidden partition I have found out that it does have one and that evidently is the problem. I download a program called GParted and it works great, it showed the hidden partition and that it was a fat 16 and ran a test on it and it showed to be damaged, so I repartitioned it. I am now doing acheck of the whole drive to be sure that all is well before I attempt to do a clean install of XP. Thanks so much for all the help eveyone....this Gparted is a cool program it does alot of stuff, and is very helpful. Ty once again. I'll let ya know if this works lol and I will certainly look for the scroll! Thanks Barb
  14. it crashed after installing sp3 update, then it wouldn't go into safemode or repair . During the re-intall when I selected F5 it only gives me 2 options 486 and other, I have also chose other and it goes back to the install screen and then the blue windows shutdown screen with the windows error code 7E. It has to be the hidden partition that has some corrupted files in it but I can't figure out how to find that hidden partition.
  15. This toshiba laptop has a duo processor also. Here's what I did like 4 x. I booted using the original win98 cd repartitioned, deleted all dos and non dos partitions, then formated. Then I rebooted with winxp original cd, it went thru the process of a clean install, it partitioned and formated then started the install then it restarted as normal during the install it showed 39% remaining on the install then it stopped and hung up @34% and would not go any further. Instead of the F6 I did push F5, there was only one option there 486 so I choice it, If I dont F5 it the setup stops on reboot with an error message windows has stopped to avoid damage etc with the famous windows error code 0x0000007E, which windows shows has something to do with sp3, then a pci error code shows, so I have to push F5 in order for the install to work. So since it kept hanging @ 34% after several tries, I repartioned and reformated again same problem except it doesn't let me do a clean install, it ask if I want to repair or install, I have tried both neither work, it goes directly to setup page starting 39% remaining and hanging up @ 34%....so evidently this process is not removing all the files or system from this computer....and why is winxp setting up my drive as 1 instead of c ?
