  1. trevor89, you mentioned GoodOldFavorites extension, did you mean PlainOldFavorites? I found that this lets me use IE's favorites even adding links. Think this is what I'm going to set up as a work around until the bookmarks problem is fixed.

    Edit: This gets even better!

    The menu editor lets me remove 'Bookmarks' from the menu bar.

    https://addons.mozil...inoldfavorites/

    http://menueditor.mozdev.org/

    That's the trick :thumbup

    but no need menueditor, there is an option in this add on to disable "bookmarks" in the menu bar ;)

    And I add the french language pack , so I have Firefox 6.0 in french now B)

  2. The first look is very good :thumbup and the menu fonts doesn't be strange, but I can't import any bookmarks from other browsers.

    System: WinME, KernelEX 4.5.1, RP 9.72, MS VC++ 2005/2008 red

    Hi,

    I have try this version too , load well , but the bookmarks doesn't work on my system

    there is no bookmark and I can't import any;

    same as the official version :(

    My system : PIII 450 Mhz , RAM 512 Mo

    W98SE SP3Beta 4, KernelEX 4.5.1, RP 9.72,

  3. Strange as when I click on updates on the browser it says there are none. Did you get your update as a pop up or did you manually find it and install?

    Yes Firefox 3.6.19 is a chemspill release for Firefox that only go for OS X user ( in fact for the new OS 10.7)

    There is no update for the other platforms;

    https://wiki.mozilla....6.19/Test_Plan

    but if you download the last version from the official site you will have the 3.6.19 version :

    http://www.mozilla.c.../all-older.html

    There will be an update for all user in 3 weeks :

    https://wiki.mozilla.org/Releases/Firefox_3.6.20

    ;)

  4. Yeah, but if it's to do with security then I find it strange why someone would be using 3.5 when 3.6 is more secure between the two.

    Not exactly: in this moment 3.5 and 3.6 series are on the same level of security.

    Of course this would change, if Mozilla will not update 3.5 line anymore (Firefox 3.5.18 as the last version).

    Btw, for Win9x users it's not important anyway.

    yes , but on my old W98SE machine Firefox 3.5.* run match better then 3.6.* (faster, less HD activity ....)

  5. Running KernelEx 4.5 Final on Windows 98SE I tried installing VLC Player 1.1.5 but it crashed hard. It won't even play an MP3 file. I scanned through here and some people recommended getting the unicows.dll file, but I have that in my windows\system\ directory. I even found two other versions on my computer so I took the one with the most recent date (August 31, 2007) and overwrote the one in the windows\system directory. No change. So now I'm downloading KMPlayer I think 2.9.3..xxxx (edit:it works) or something, I got the info out of this forum that it was working for someone. A few quick questions:

    What's the latest VLC Player version that can run under KernelEx?

    What's the latest KMPlayer version that can run under KernelEx?

    Which one's better?

    Any tips for either?

    For me the last VLC 1.1.5 work fine with KernelEX 4.5 Final (I just try it again with some mp3 and flv) :whistle:

  6. Here my list of add-ons on Firefox 4.0b7 :

    User Agent Switcher0.7.2

    CSLite1.4

    NewTabURL2.2.0

    Add-on CompatibilityReporter0.7

    Feedback1.0.3

    Status-4-Evar2010.11.20.19

    NoScript2.0.7

    Nightly Tester Tools3.0

    (only CSLite doesn't work because incompatible)

    ;)

  7. Hi, are you saying I normally would not be able to install any add-ons with version 4 unless I do this fix that you mention?

    that depend of the add-on ;

    for example AdblockPlus is without problem ; the recent update work perfectly and is decompressed in the right folder :)

    For Noscript the recent update keep in a *.xpi file in the extensions folder and I must decompress it in the original folder of this add-on I have previously and then this add-on work fine.

    ;)

  8. Just thought to ask as FF 3.6.13 works on Windows 98 with KernelEx-4.5-RC5, I am wondering if anyone knows what the system requirements might be for Firefox version 4 when it is officially released from beta?

    In other words will FF Version 4 work similar to FF V3.6.13?

    I know I could give the Beta a test, but I don't want to muck up my installation as it works really well at present.

    If anyone has tried it that uses win98 & KernelEx-4.5-RC5 is what I really would like to know.

    Hi,

    what that I can say is that Firefox 4.0b7 work on Windows 98SE with KernelEX 4.5RC5 :)

    There is a little restriction : the new add-on manager : it seem like the add-on that I have from an prévious version work but some updated add-on or new add-on doesn't install or work ;

    that's do to the new form of add-on that keep compressed in the add-on folder and doesn't detected in W98SE ;

    to make them work I have find a issue with extracting the *.xpi file in the same folder with the same name of the add-on

    ;)

  9. Firefox 3.6.9 and 3.6.10 do not load background images while browsing web pages.

    Firefox 3.6.8 or 4.0 beta 6 are OK.

    Hi all,

    same for me with the KernelEX 4.5 RC2 version :(

    I've had the same problem with the betas of the 3.6.4 and I have found an issue with extracting the "xul.dll" from the 3.6.3 version and replace it in the Firefox program files folder;

    So for the 3.6.10 version, I take the 3.6.11pre nightly (zip version here : http://ftp.mozilla.o...lla-1.9.2-l10n/) and extract "xul.dll" and replace it in the 3.6.10 folder and this work :)

  10. KEX 4.5 RC3: I noticed an Error in KernelEx.dll on two machines. OS: Win ME RP9.6.6

    Hi,

    I have the same error with KernellEX 4.5 RC3 on my Win98SE french version 4.10.2222A,

    I uninstall it and reinstall the 4.5 RC2 version that work for me ;)

    here my Dr Watson log :

  11. First post, so I'll start with a big thanks to Xeno86 for this useful software.

    Just wanted to report that Firefox 3.6.4 is showing 100% CPU with KernelEx 4.5beta2 on Win98SE. Was installed in XP SP2 compatibility mode. No errors on command line or in the console. The browser works but hogs CPU. Reverting to FF3.6.3 for the moment.

    Regards.

    Yes, I notice that too since the first build of Firefox 3.6.4 ;

    and I notice when I browse a web page with flash contained, Firefox crash :(

    (if I disable OOPP by changing all the "dom.ipc.plugins.enabled" value in "about:config" to "false" there is no crash and I can see the flash contained, but the CPU stay at 100%)

    It seems like the "plugin-container.exe" don't run on W98SE even with XP SP2 compatibility set :}

    Firefox 3.6.3 work fine but, I revert to Firefox 3.5.10 do to security issue .

    ;)

  12. When I try and install adblockplus I receive the following error, Signing could not be verified 260.

    What do I need to do?

    I need to install this to FF 2.0.0.20 as I can't get Kernelex to work as it stops my firewall from loading.

    Hi,

    the last version of Adblockplus that work with Firefox 2.0.0.20 is 1.0.2

    Minimal requirements: Firefox 2.0, Thunderbird 2.0, SeaMonkey 1.1, Flock 1.0, K-Meleon 1.1

    https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/1865/versions/?page=1#version-1.0.2

    ;)

  13. I'm having an issue with KernelEx and some fonts (I didn't want to add to the KernelEx thread because I'm sure I'm just missing something). I'm using 4.5 Beta 2 and Firefox 3.5. Fonts on menus, dialogs, and webpages are completely missing in Firefox, and on some installers there are blocks instead of characters. I suspect it has something to do with unicode support. I've installed all the available updates for 98, and I've tried adding and replacing some of the fonts. I've searched the forums but can't seem to find a solution. Any ideas? A screenshot is attached.

    Hi

    I have the same issue with some application some weeks ago;

    there were some fonts files that were corrupt :wacko:

    I resolve this with restoring the original fonts of W98 from the install cd ;

    You can try this to restore the original fonts of W98 with this tutorial:

    How to Restore the Windows Default Fonts in Windows 98

    But first uninstall KernelEX and reboot you computer; after restoring the original fonts you can reinstall KernelEX

    ;)

  14. AFAIK, there is no way to set it permanently to a different User Agent using the Switcher. There may be a way to do this by altering the registry or some file, but I don't regard it as that much of a problem, as most sites don't complain, I've only had problems or nag screens on MySpace and YouTube so far.

    Apparently, as you pointed out, the browser version is all that matters, because this string works as well. :lol:

    Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win95C; en-US; rv:1.9.0.18) Gecko/2010020220 Firefox/3.0.18

    There is a way to permanently set the User Agent :)

    in the urlbar enter "about:config" ; in the filter search the line "useragentswitcher.reset.onclose", right clic on it > modify and set to false ;

    restart Firefox and enjoy :D
