  1. I really don`t want to annoy you, but I just don`t want to screw what is left; so, would you tell me what to do, please? This is a picture for PhotoRec & TestDisk:- Thank you,
  2. There is that old 160GB HDD, with XP on partition C (about 50GBs) and other files on D (about 110GBs). Few days ago I tried to install W7. When it showed me the partitions to use for installation, there was a big unallocated space (I think about the size of the D drive - 110GBs), so I chose it to make a new partition and to install W7 on it. 1)I know there was partition D with some files on it because I used the command utility (which comes with the W7 installation CD) to check what was in my HDD, and I`ve seen my files on C and D. 2)I knew that "unallocated space" had something to do with the D partitition", but I thought it was just showing me the left space on the D partition; now I know that`s not true!! So, how do I get my old D partition (or merely the files that were on it) back?
  3. 1)I wake up that morning and turned my pc on, suddenly a message saying that "hal.dll" was lost got on my screen... 2)I have no floppy drive, no CD-DVD drive. 3)I tried to install DOS on a flash in order to copy a new "hal.dll" from flash disk to system directory; and after hard work while trying to do that, I found out that I don`t have access to the OS partition in my HDD (from DOS). 4)Today I tried to install a new fresh OS (XP), and after a while I managed to get everything to work, but once I rebooted, hal.dll was missed again (whether I boot from the flash, or from the HDD) I tried maybe 10 times to format the Flash and prepare it again, but the same happens; it first boots, and after a restart hal.dll is lost again. So, what is the solution to this problem? EDIT2: Today I tried every entry in the boot.ini and none worked (the first one give hal.dll error, the rest give "hardware" error. However, If I boot from USB Flash it totally works (till now, I only tried the firs entry)
  4. Oh Snap! when I said "Boot.ini adjustments" I meant that section in the "WinSetupFromUSB" program called "boot.ini adjusments" ! but anyway, I just managed to install vista on E, and everything is fine now! Sorry, I should have clarified that I was talking about "boot.ini adjustments" in the "winsetupfromusb" program. and ur explanation was awesome, lol, I liked it.
  5. 1st, I`m not posting 2 topics. Well, I am; but there is a difference between the two topics.. First is concerning my HDD and how to fix the lettering issue; and why I had 4 Partitions, while I only see 3. (Which, by the way, can help me solve the question in this topic posted right here) Second topic is about a simple question on what values to use in that program; and since you may need some more information, and since I don`t know what information I should mention, I`ve put a link to the First topic, as it may complement the information mentioned in this one. 2nd, I`m not trying to put pressure, I was just wondering what makes no one answer this topic, so that I can do what can make my question "answerable". (maybe I didn`t provide enough information, or maybe I wasn`t clear when mentioning my problem, so on..) By the way, Thank you for the information in the second topic. Gonna read your answer again, tomorrow.
  6. This is my Boot.ini file: [boot loader] timeout=30 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS [operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /noguiboot /bootlogo This XP is installed on C and I want Vista to be installed on (F:) -which when I try to install Vista appears to be (E:), there- so, what values should I put in the Boot.ini adjustments? Please take a look at my topic here, as it may give you some information that should be considered. By the way, I`ve previously tried to put disk no. 0 and partition no. 3... but that didn`t work for sorrow (and I ruined my MBR, but thanx god I could fix it and lon on XP again)
  7. Hi, I`m using XP SP3, which I`ve installed through USB... On "My Computer" I see: also from DOS (CMD): Now Partition (E:) used to be Partition (D:) -----Partition (F:) used to be Partition (E:) but when I booted through USB in a try to install Vista, drives were listed the old way (the way before installing XP SP3 through USB) So, I`m getting really confused, is there a way to make partitions appear the same way they used to be (which is the same way they appeared when I tried to install Vista) Now, in all cases, there is only 3 Partitions Before I installed XP through USB there used to appear 3 partitions After I installed XP through USB there is still 3 partitions When I tried to Install Vista there appears only 3 partitions So, What is that 4th partition appearing in the picture? By the way, I got this list this way: CMD > DISKPART > Select Disk 0 > List Partition
  8. I really needed it and you helped, thank you so much.. gonna get back if anything went wrong.. thank you
  9. I googled it and found nothing.. I tried to use xp installation tutorials, but when I use the file "usb_prep8.cmd" and choose the directory of my server 2003 x64, it said "this is not a valid xp directory" -or something like that.. so what do I do? how do I install server 2003 x64 Thanx in advance
  10. 1- Which one of the two is more stable? (I think Win server 64x) 2- Which one uses less resources? 3- If you have nLite session file (INF file) (Profile), Can you upload it for me? (maybe after removing some personal data) Because I never used it before, and I`m not familiar with what comes with it from apps, services, and so. PS: I`d like to use it as a desktop, not a server. 4- I know this question is out of the topic, but If you have or would like to answer it, it would be greatly appreciated.. In that picture, you see you can make processor schedualing more for programs OR for background services.. Can you explain the difference between these options? also concerning the memory usage, Can you explain the difference between the two options?
  11. I dun get it. If I use the slipstreamer, will I have to add this line "OEMPnPDriversPath=Drivers\RAID" earlier it was "OEMPnPDriversPath=Drivers\RAID;" So, If I have to add the line to the previously specified file, whats the correct line of these two?

  20. I have a virus I can`t remove it by any means! and I never felt of stress like that before! (nor felt as weak as I am today!) anyway! I want to install XP 64-bit but it gives me an error talking about drives.. so I guessed that its because Drivers are not avaiblable.. I`ve searched for the drivers on the internet, but can`t find them (specifically talking about the HDD related drivers) here is the list of the drivers I should get (I think you can find which are related to the problem)
  21. actually no, I don`t see it. but if I do search, it finds it. here is a picture to get things clear:
  22. yup an ISO. I`ve extracted the files by powerISO, and so now the contents are in C:\Vista. the files in this directory (C:\vista\) are: boot efi sources support upgrade autorun.inf bootmgr bootmgr.efi setup.exe
