Well I am disapointed really this is the firsttime I have had a rant on a forum but I think it's deserved. I am amazed that several hundred people read the thank you post yet didn't add a reply. In this world I think it's great that someone with Green machines talent can be bothered to help us, for people like me there would be no chance of being able to do what he as created. I just find it difficult when I see people taking this good will enjoying the benefits and then not having the manners to say THANK YOU It is a horrible world we live in when all we can do is take, we are very lucky that Green machine can be bothered to help us, it's a good job he's not a taker otherwise we would all be worse off. Rant over

Hi there, I have a disc that came with my Abit motherboard I have put it in my floppy drive and then Explore but I cannot find the version numbers, on the disc are .\silicon\3112\ for windows 2000 and xp, .\silicon\3114\ for windows 2000 and xp, .\intel\ for windows 2000 and xp and finally .\via\ for windows 2000 and xp. If they are any good I will be glad to send them, I didn't want to send you something you already have, if you could explain how I can tell the version I will check then send them if they are any good. Don't know if you remember me you helped me integrate my sata drivers, I'm the chap who didn't have a clue. Any way hope you are keeping well. Kind regards Andrew.

I have just done my first install using the XPCreate cd that I made, this is a whole new world to me and has opened up many doorways for me. I just think it is appropriate to thank Greenmachine for the massive amount of work that has gone into creating this programme and then to share it with us all. I'm sure I am not alone when I say a big thank you for all your effort into this project and continuing to help us with our projects.

Hi I have gone to the new files / in there I have dosnet set up information, log files, svc pack, txt set upand XP Create. When I double click on the log files blue cabinet box it opens up the XPCreate but when I right click on that it only gives me an option to copy or extract. I think I am missing the point somewhere would you know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks again, Andrew.

Hi I am really sorry about that I don't know how to navigate around these folders so it was a genuine mistake, although I did think there was an awfull lot there. Anyway here is what I think is now the right bit. My problem is that I am a complete beginner when it says in the root etc I don't know what that mean's I have gone through and can find a cab file I think that it what it is it is in like a cabinet in the new files folder saying log files, but when I try to open it it just gives me an option to extract it not copy and paste it, so I have edited the log file I attached earlier and left the part that says do not delete along with the other bits I think will be useful. Edited to remove the lengthy file.

Thank you for a quick reply, I have tried to do that but when it gets to the end after saying burning iso image it gives a final one saying CD not burned press enter to exit I have tried it 3 times now all with the same result, I have changed the CD writer from E to D as I have a DVD and CD writer it still does the same, Here is the note from the XPCREATE notepad folder, I think this is the one you were asking for on a previous topic.

Hi I have a problem I am very new to this so please accept my apolagies for being slow on the learning. I have tried to run XP Create and have got to the point where I want to add my Sata drivers, I have looked through the forum and the instructions and do not understand where and how to put the drivers in. I can see that they should be put here Place your drivers somewhere in the FILESCD\$OEM$\$1\DRIVERS directory tree But I don't understand how to put them there, I can see the ( files CD ) in the folder that I set up for XP Create but when I open it, it is empty I cannot find anything what says $OEM$. I hope this is not like the one where on first installation it says press any key, I have heard that someone couldn't find a key which said any key on it. I hope that there is a simple answer as I think the whole XP Create looks to be great, one of the reasons for me wanting to create this CD is so that I can incorporate the SATA drivers. I have looked through the forum and cannot find where this has come up so it must be something quite simple that I just don't understand. Thank you for taking the time to read this, thanks especially to Green Machine for creating this wonderful tool.

Hi can anyone help, some time ago I fitted a new Sata drive and all was OK until I try to do a new install, now when it is all up and running when it comes to shutting down it displays it is now safe to turn off your computer, when before it used to fully shut down. I have noticed that the computer shows as a standard pc when before it used to display uniprocessor ACPI, this is in device manager. I have trawled the internet and found on The Elder Geek's site that when it is time to press F6 for the Sata drivers press F5 instead then choose the uniprocessor ACPI computer option. Unfortunately when this is done I cannot then find a way to install the Sata drivers. I have tried the unattended CD and unfortunately I cannot work out how to do this, I have also tried the XPCREATE and cannot make that produce a working copy either, it is obviously something I am doing wrong I must say I really don't understand how to do it or the jargon and terminology that goes with it. I just want to do a clean install and make it shut down at the end of my session, is there a way to enable this ACPI uniprocessor part as on the Elder Geek they say it about impossible. Surely just that word impossible will make someone out there find a way, that's if you don't know already. I shall persevere and hope to understand more about this unattended stuff later, I am certainly picking up things everyday off this site. Thanks to all for your imput.

Hi I am trying to build a unattended disc with Sata drivers, I have looked around and found places where it says about it like http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/READING/addraid.htm Unfortunately this piece I do not understand (In the I386 directory or your Windows Source Directory, open the TXTSETUP.SIF file in your favorite text editor. Copy the following text into the TXTSETUP.SIF file, at the end of the file, just before the (sometimes invisible) end of file marker: ) could someone point me in the right direction as I have no idea where the end of the file is I have looked at the file I just need to know where to put it. And is it word for word as ( TXTSETUP.SIF ) sorry I am a dummy but this is all new to me and it's like learning a new language. I have also looked at this site http://greenmachine.msfnhosting.com/XPCREATE/ I cannot find this ( Edit the XPCREATE.INI file to reflect your system parameters. This may be edited in Notepad, or any text editor. Instructions may be found inside the file. ) I cannot find the ini file or any instructions, my mate says I probably can'y see the wood for the tree's ! Thanks in advance.

Finding this site great, wanted to find out why I couldn't shut down properly because of conflict with ACPI and sata disk, but this site has given me a whole new meaning of interest in computers. I have downloaded most of the updates and shall be trying to make my first unattended cd soon! I am just not sure about how to put the SATA drivers in the unattended cd, if anyone can help I would be grateful to be shown or directed to the right place. Thanks to everyone for their input into this site I really love it.

Does any one know how many versions of XP are or were made? It interets me so that I can find out how old various copies/versions are and hopefully the service packs included in them. What would happen if say someone with a late version of XP were to try to install all the updates onto a slipstreamed CD? Would things go wrong? or would it just ignore that fact that maybe two fixes are on the same CD? One of the reasons I ask is that I am going to attempt to build several slipstreamed CD's obviously they are not all mine they are for various friends of mine and I don't know if when I get there discs that they are all the same. I want to do it as a project to help me get into this subject a little better but don't want to wreck any one's computer whilst I am having fun. My own being version 5.1 build 2600 I don't actually know how old my own is as it was purchased secondhand with a computer which is now dead. Thanks in anticipation.

Help installing Sata drivers and enabling ACPI
kimandsally replied to kimandsally's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
I cannot find the things you say in power I have a power options in control panel and a tab that says UPS I cannot see APM anywhere, could it be that something else is wrong with my installation? Thanks for the suggestions and ANY help at all is welcome. I am not a computer wiz by any standards and I WELCOME ANY help ay all. -
Can anyone help me? I am being driven mad trying to install XP Pro corporate on my machine. It is a 5.1 build 2600. The problem I am having is that if I press the F5 key at the time it asks if I want to press the F6 key it lets me scroll down and enable the ACPI uniprocessor PC, but after that it doesn't give me an option to install the Sata drivers so it says it cannot continue because there is no valid drive or something like that. If I press the F6 and install the Sata drivers it gives me no option to change the settings to ACPI uniprocessor PC so when the install is complete on shutting down it comes up that it is now safe to turn your computer off, instead of turning off like when the ACPI uniprocessor PC option is activated. I have one copy that is very messed up which did install properly when the Sata drive was first installed, it did this by itself I just loaded the Sata drivers and it automatically enabled the ACPI uniprocessor PC option. But for some reason it will not do it again. I have tried using the Maxblast facility and written zero's to the whole drive to make it like it left the factory but nothing seem's to work. The only way to make it shut down properly is for me to reinstall the ghost image of the messed up drive info. I forgot to mention one probably important thing when I click: my computer, properties, device manager, then click my computer on the messed up one that shuts down properly it shows as ACPI uniprocessor PC but on the one that doesn't shut down from a clean install it just shows as a standard computer. Thanks in advance. Kimandsally.
