My first encounter with computers was in '95 after we bought our son his first, which was suppose to help him with the class he was taking in high school. I started asking questions about how to do things on the computer, as he learned and became more proficient, but he wasn't as patient to teach, as I was to learn, so I had to find other resources. I started out playing games, FPS is my favorite, Unreal was my first real game, I was addicted from then on.

I got my first computer in '99. The family chipped in at Christmas and my son-in-law built one for me with Windows 98 SE. As time went on and I started breaking things, it was up to me to learn how to fix them. For awhile I was able to use Microsoft's customer support, at the time it was free for a year and I learned a lot about diagnosing problems. After I used up MS support I started using free tech support websites like "askme.com," which used to be free, and others like it. Then I started using the forums, and Google, bought books to tell me what I needed to know. I learned enough to solve other people's problems and fix their computers. One interest lead to another; create a desktop theme and publish it, create a website and publish it. learn how to slipstream an OS, and other things. Spent a lot of time playing with Linux and sharing all this with people of like mind.

Now in 2010 at the age of 59 I'm "eaten up with it".
