  2. Running 2 rigs My Rig: Asus P5K-DLX Bios 0812; ICH9 SATA AHCI Controller -- Driver 7.8.0.1012 Non-RAID Plextor 760A (IDE) Runs fine IDE/AHCI. My Son's Rig: Asus P5E3-DLX Bios 1203; ICH9 SATA AHCI Controller 2 -- 2926 ICH9R SATA AHCI Controller 1 -- 2920 -- drivers 8.3.0.1016 Samsung SH-S203N Non-RAID Runs fine in IDE; Samsung will NOT run AHCI. Cant figure out why the P5E3 will not work right. thanks George
  3. PuntoMX, THANKS for this. It worked like a champ for my Asus P5K-DLX, though it took a little bit of sleuthing to realize that in skipping part 2 of your instructions, I also had to adjust the registry tweak. I also tried it on my son's PC, which has the P5E3 board, and it worked fine, but his Samsung 203N drives do NOT like it and freeze up. my plextor 760a had no issue. Did anyone else have an issue with a Samsung DVD? thanks again for the guide. take care George
  4. I was able to successfully create the image file, with n-lite and wmp11 slipstreamer for a new XP disc from my original OEM XPSP1 disk, everything seemed to work like a champ. burned the iso with nlite to a clean dvd, and no problems reported. to test it all out, I then create a new VPC machine and "boot" it from the DVD. go through the install/format questions, and it reboots ok to the XP set-up part -- you know the section that says 39 minutes left.... So far so good. Then when it hits the network set-up section, it re-boots and starts the whole process over. I would greatly appreciate any pointers to how to get it over this little hiccup. thanks George
