Hi folks, I recently decided to add a Win 98 Second Edition to my T42 laptop, which has a set of features pretty much identical to the one listed here: http://www.msfn.org/board/lofiversion/index.php/t115726.html That post is a bit helpful, but it does not pertain to the problem I am having. To recap, my specs are as follows: * Pentium M 745 1.8GHz Processor * 1GB RAM * 160GB 5400rpm HDD * 14.1 SXGA+(1400x1050) TFT LCD * 64MB ATI Radeon 9600 AGP 4x * 24x24x24x/8x CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive * Intel 802.11b/g wireless(MPCI) * Bluetooth/Modem(CDC) * 1Gb Ethernet(LOM) * UltraNav * Secure Chip * Fingerprint Reader * 6 cell Li-Ion Battery I set up the system as a dual boot, and allocated a bit over 10GB for the FAT32 Windows partition, with the rest allocated to another non-conflicting OS., I tried a vanilla install, which went well, it appeared to complete, asked me to reboot the system, upon reboot Windows began to load off the hard drive, but unfortunately about 10 seconds into the load period the screen went blank and then rebooted. This has happened in normal and safe modes. So I cant get Win98 to complete the installation as I am able to install teh files off the CD and able to start it up off the hard drive but the hard drive boot inevitably keeps crashing about 10-15 secs into the boot time. So I tried tinkering, I reviewed the drivers page her http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...ocid=MIGR-55386 to see f they can offer anything,a s well as reading up on forums such as this, though I could not find anyone with similar past issues, or maybe just did nto use the right search terms. In particular I took note of the http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...ocid=MIGR-44220 which offers "Windows 98 installation support" and I created a dedicated WIN98 folder on my C: drive and added the installation support file they specified, and then I tried installing direct from disk with the additional file. Again I was successful to the point of reboot, the system started loading fromt he hard drive with the familiar blue windows screen and then it crashed about 10 seconds into it. My suspicion is that perhaps a) I need to slip stream the Video driver into the install CD (dont really know how to go about doing that) - but then again if that is the issue then I should not be seeing the load screen to begin with. B) perhaps I need to install a non OEM windows 98 SE? c) Maybe there is something I am doing completely wrong. Does anyone have any recommendations as to what I can try next? Thanks for any help. M
