  1. So it'll be easier to see the errors on the BSOD, I recommend that you disable Automatic Restart by doing the following:

    from Control Panel,

    double click on the System icon

    click on "Advanced System Settings" in the upper left corner

    click on the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery Section (3rd settings button down)

    uncheck the "Automatically Restart" box and then click "OK" to all the windows.

    Now when you get the dreaded Blue Screen of Death, it will set on that window and let you see all the error data.

  2. I had the same problem with my installation some years ago.

    Here's the microsoft support page to fix the problem.....................

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/108079/EN-US/

    Windows 98se has a problem with system having more than 512mb of memory.

    Your problem can be solved by editing the SYSTEM.INI file.

    1. Open the System.ini file in a text editor, such as Microsoft Windows Notepad.

    2. Go to the [VCache] section.

    3. Change the MinFileCache= and the MaxFileCache= settings to the desired value.

    NOTE: The value for these settings are in kilobytes. For example, if you want to create a 50-MB cache that cannot exceed 55 MB, the lines would be as follows:

    [VCache]

    MinFileCache=51200

    MaxFileCache=56320
