  1. So, though I verfied that said files are there on the HD before the reboot from textmode, burning same files to a CD (well, technically an .iso, as this was a VM for the latest round of testing) and pointing the installer to those worked!?! I wonder if the files are getting deleted on the restart, or perhaps it's a wierd permissions/ownership issue?
  2. Yes, it was a network-based install. (BartPE and PE2) This particular problem was solved w/ the latest version of 2.0. (See above post)
  3. (Wasn't sure whether to put this in unattended or here, but it's not strictly an unattended question...) I'm wondering what are the actual, real differences between having IE7 installed on top of IE6, and having it slipstreamed into the source? All things being equal, I know having stuff slipstreamed is "cleaner", and I'd prefer it, but are there any functional differences? Just a bit of extra disk space? If I install w/ the "don't backup files" switch, is it the same or...? Background - I'm creating a new build image - before it was an SP2 install I had slipstreamed IE7 (along w/ several other items). W/ a fresh SP3 install source, I'm having trouble slipstreaming IE7 in, and don't want that to hold me up any longer if it's 99% the same...

  5. Followup: Going back to my original batch of updates, it's the following that are missing, in the order they are asked for (just a couple seconds after "installing networking": rsop.mof wscenter.mof rsop.mtl As an aside - since my most pressing need for this is just to get a basic image built to be re-deployed, is there any reason I can't provide these files manually and get on with my life? (Or does problem of these missing files point to there being some other, hidden issues?) 6. Me again! (Edited from earlier to clarify and with more testing results) 80630a, during gui-mode copy, can't find file RSOP.MOF With only IE7 and required, like so: Files in your HF folder: IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe Files in your HFCABS folder: ieaccess.cab wbemoc.cab Files in your HFSVCPACK folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK_SW1 folder: Files in your HFTOOLS folder: HFSLIP32_PRE_SWFlash9_v1.zip modifyPE.exe Files in your REPLACE folder: Only one missing file: RSOP.MOF Compressed version is, of course, in i386. (Verified it's not actually in the $NT.whatever.LS? by interrupting the install after it gave the error). It is, however, listed in TXTSETUP: rsopW.chm = 100,,,,,,,21,0,0,rsop.chm rsopsnpW.chm = 1,,,,,,,21,0,0,rsopsnp.chm rsop.mfl = 1,,,,,,,35,0,0 rsop.mof = 100,,,,,,,35,0,0 rsop.msc = 1,,,,,,,2,0,0 rsopprov.exe = 1,,,,,,,2,0,0 I will follow up with my original set of selected patches and missing files. P.S. I've been using the low-compression "SPX" option, as that seems much faster than the "DRIVER.CAB" option. Any chance that could make a difference? From your previous replies I just realized network-based installs aren't really supported, or aren't first priority, so double thanks. (Hmm, I wonder if my boss would approve a donation to you guys?)
  7. Tried it with 80630a, that did seem to fix the texmode issue. Still getting some (new!) missing files during the GUI copy/setup phase. Which I will probably document in the followup: http://www.msfn.org/board/IE7-Slipstream-t...ck-t119480.html Looks like it might be time to give nlite a go... Can you tell me what causes setup to not see and/or copy the files that are there in the install source? (i386)
  8. Thanks for the reply! I never got the email notifications (suspect our spam filter, I'll have to bug the guy that admins that) and was getting a bit miffed that nobody responded...I'll try the 2.0 beta, pre-release...thing. Thanks again!
  9. Same setup as my other post (http://www.msfn.org/board/wbemoccab-not-helping-missing-napprovm-t119477.html) Plain XPw/SP3 pre-integrated setup downloaded from MS's Volume Licensing site. Using HFSLIP 1.7.8. During some part of the GUI setup (I don't know the "T" designations) advpack.mui and ieframe.mui aren't found. advpack.mu_ and ieframe.mu_ are in i386. The only mention I could find on MSFN forums of this issue is http://www.msfn.org/board/files-missing-t99563.html - but there's no resolution, the thread just dies. I've re-downloaded the IE7 installer to make sure it was the latest version, disabled AV to make sure it wasn't interfering... Again, any ideas? === Host OS - Windows XP HFSLIP Version - 1.7.8, build 80614 HFSLIP Path - C:\temp\hfslip\ OS in SOURCESS - Windows XP Professional SP3 English MSIE Version - MSIE7 Drivers - SPX.CAB Added CD Install Path - Default CDTAG - WIN51 =============================================================================== Files in your HF folder: directx_jun2008_redist.exe IE7-WindowsXP-KB950759-x86-ENU.exe IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu.exe rootsupd.exe windows-kb890830-v1.42.exe WindowsXP-KB905474-ENU-x86-standalone.exe WindowsXP-KB950760-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB950762-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB951376-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB951698-x86-ENU.exe Files in your HFCABS folder: LegitCheckControl.cab OGAControl.cab opuc4.cab wbemoc.cab Files in your HFGUIRUNONCE folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK_SW1 folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK_SW2 folder: Files in your HFTOOLS folder: modifyPE.exe Files in your REPLACE folder: =============================================================================== HFSLIP run time: 9m39s
  10. This week I started w/ a plain XPw/SP3 pre-integrated setup downloaded from MS's Volume Licensing site. Using HFSLIP 1.7.8 (Started w/ 1.7.7 but that was creating sourcess directories w/ something horribly broken.) Following the info in http://hfslip.org/xpsp3.html, placed wbemoc.cab in HFCABS. However, during ttextmode setup, I get the "Napprov.mof" not found error. (Strangely, the error listed on the SP3 page linked above says the error will say napclientprov.mof. (I've verified that NAPPROV.MO_ is in the i386 folder.) I've verified that the plain pre-hfslip install source works fine, both manually and unattended. I'm installing off a network share booted off a bartpe(UBCD4WIN, actually) CD. I've tried 3 different compression options (A, F, and E I think) I was having a separate issue w/ IE7 slipstreaming which you'll see posted next to this one, so tried without IE7, as well. I've searched the forums (I couldn't find any obvious way to search only the HFSLIP forum, it returned several things that looked possibly related when using nlite and such, but nothing helpful... I'm not an HFSLIP expert, but generally know my way around it and have been using automated installs built w/ 1.6.4 for 7 or 8 months...Any ideas? =============================================================================== Files in your HF folder: directx_jun2008_redist.exe rootsupd.exe windows-kb890830-v1.42.exe WindowsXP-KB905474-ENU-x86-standalone.exe WindowsXP-KB950760-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB950762-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB951376-x86-ENU.exe WindowsXP-KB951698-x86-ENU.exe Files in your HFCABS folder: LegitCheckControl.cab OGAControl.cab opuc4.cab wbemoc.cab Files in your HFGUIRUNONCE folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK_SW1 folder: Files in your HFSVCPACK_SW2 folder: Files in your HFTOOLS folder: modifyPE.exe Files in your REPLACE folder: =============================================================================== HFSLIP run time: 31m20s
