  1. Ok not to sound like an id***, I know how to go to the permissions and then advanced where I can set certain things from there. But how do I allow rename but take away delete if you have to have delete enabled in order to rename something? Can you show me a screen shot of what you mean with specail perms?
  2. Ok running windows 2003 server with windows xp clients. I am wondering if there is a way to create files that have Rename rights without Delete rights? From the research on the net it looks you can not do this... Can anyone help me?
  3. Before everyone says search !!!! I have searched and havn't figured out what is going on. I have this in WPI config file cmd1[pn]=['%wpipath%\\\\Install\\\\Office2003\\\\setup.exe TRANSFORMS=Office2003pro.mst /qb-]' The install seems to run just fine, but Office isn't installed when i go to the start menu? Is there a better way to install office through WPI? Am I missing anything, because the install works fine without WPI.
  4. Any idea why i get this error? C:\WinXPsp2\RVM>expand -r SVCPACK.IN_ Microsoft (R) File Expansion Utility Version 5.1.2600.0 Copyright (C) Microsoft Corp 1990-1999. All rights reserved. Cannot expand a file onto itself: svcpack.in_.
  5. I know you have to extract the svcpack.in_ so you can edit it and then recompress it but for the life of me I can not remember the commands to extract it / compress it. Can someone please help. Thanks
  6. Ok i just downloaded the latest WPI 4.3.5 and have entered my applications into WPI... Like so ... %cdrom%\$OEM$\Applications\DotNetFramework\netfxsp1.exe When I choose to install an app it is trying to install from my C: drive instead of from my cdrom? What am I doing Wrong?
  7. Ok I just inheirted a nice Dell 8400 Deminsion Specs: 3.4 Gtz 800mhz bus 1.0 gig of ram 160 sata drive Radien x800 SE video card I was thinking of finally making a MCE box, but have read the many problems ppl are having with hardware issues. 8. Well let me explain agian .. We had a old w2k server that is turned off now. I then Setup a new domain with DNS, AD, and DHCP. No machines could talk to the DHCP server.. and the event log is clear. So I decide just for fun to uninstal the DHCP server and install it on another new w2k server using a differnt pool and all.. And nothing? No client can find the DHCP server...
  9. Still not working .. this is the weridest thing ever.. I mean is there a way to look at packets or something on the network to see if my server is even broadcasting it self as a DHCP? I change my scope, I even changed the server? I do not have to reset my routers or anything do I ?
  10. Of Course it is authorized ... Basically when I do a ipconfig /renew is says this... Windows IP Configuration An Error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request as timed out. Is there a way I can look to make sure the DHCP server is broadcasting?
  11. Does anyone know how to deploy or push a registry file to Xp machines even if the user doesn't have admin rights?
  12. Has anyone used this tool? http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tools/1421.html Pretty cool concept but I cannot seem to get it to work..You can import a registry file and output a adm file to use for group policy. My problem is the reg file I exported isn't fully getting impletmented in the .adm file? I was wondering if anyone knows why? Here is my reg file .. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blah\Blah Wizard] "Data"="\\\\192.168.100.13\\Shares\\BlahWizardDB\\" "Extension"="MBR" "Files"="C:\\TDW\\Work\\" "MSG"="0" Here is my adm file .. CLASS MACHINE CATEGORY SOFTWARE\Blah POLICY "Blah Wizard" KEYNAME "SOFTWARE\Blah\Blah Wizard" PART Data EDITTEXT VALUENAME "Data" END PART PART Extension EDITTEXT VALUENAME "Extension" END PART PART Files EDITTEXT VALUENAME "Files" END PART PART MSG EDITTEXT VALUENAME "MSG" END PART END POLICY END CATEGORY
  13. Ok we currently just went through a network revamp. I deceided to reinstall everything instead of trying ot migrate stuff to my new servers. Everything has gone perfect with the exception of my DHCP Server. I installed a toally new domain joined all my pcs to that domain using static address's. Now it was time to install the new DHCP Server so turned off the old DHCP Service and started up the DHCP service on the new server. Everything seems to be running fine. No errors in the event log, but none of my pcs can obtain a DHCP address? Anyone know why? My Domain server has the following services running on it - AD, Print, DNS, DHCP.
  14. Much Much Love goes out to Gurgelmeyer on your hard work
  15. Ok just so I can stop killing myself here ... What command are you using to integrate these packs? Also is there a particular order to them? Thx
