  1. Can any of these games run just fine without using Kernel, just curious?
  2. http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_77.72.html
  3. Alright for everyone reading this thread, keep in mind i have problems using Uberskin, with certain games. None of my games seem to freeze when using it, but i have other issues. I NEVER SAID THAT UBERSKIN WAS BAD, I NEVER SAID THAT. I SAID THAT UBERSKIN IS GREAT, AND WORKS JUST FINE, BUT " WITH ME " AND " SOME OF MY GAMES " I HAVE ISSUES. ALRIGHT, peace
  4. Well may i ask what games freeze and whats your system specs, video card, etc. Also, the thing with Uberskins, the skins work good, however running a game , it conflicts with the game. Meaning if i load up a game and start playing, my fps are low, when they shouldn't be, the thing that is causing that is those skins are still " active " in the background. The skins is causing the game issue, because when running a game, the skin are somehow active in the background. Its like the skin is playing in the game or something lol. Its kinda like i guess the desktop is still active, because of the heavy skins. Only happens with a few games, but those games are important to me, and my games comes first. So i gave up using it, i mean its a amazing skin pack, but i just have to give up on it. I hope they can fix the issue, whatever it is, for future releases. So i just use something called: eXPerience Pack 2.5 See look at my desktop: Very simple, adds some nice skins, also adds XP icons and sounds. peace
  5. You could install uberskin, but i don't use it myself because it conflicts with my games, so i use something called: Experience pack 2.5, that changes your icons to XP and add some skins. The skins are cool, but not as cool as uberskin.
  6. Is kernel install with this package, if so, which version
  7. Just a update, but i just bought a cheap FX5200 128bit PCI card, i also have a Evga 5200. I am using the " Non tweak " drivers 82.69 and my shutdown problems are gone. Shut down problems is not due to the none of the 80's drivers, it the video card. My 6200 can not shut down with none of the 80's drivers, but works just fine with the FX cards.
  8. I am about to use 2.3.1.0 right now. Thanks
  9. With Emule, i can't run it on windows98se for some reason. are you using the lastest version of Shareaza?
  10. Does Windows 98E have any skins or Icons or programs like that? That game explorer looks cool. I was thinking about install uberskin again, who knows. EDIT: http://software.intel.com/en-us/blogs/2007...ibility-issues/
  11. Installing the Kernel update doesn't mess with the system , it adds important files to the system. I have notice using Kernel 3.6 i get Kernel DLL error popups after exiting from certain problems, but other then that, my system is running fine. Have you tried using Kernel 3.2 or 3.5?
  12. If everyone wants to " get around the system shut down issue ". Just go into safe mode and shut down from there. Thats what i always do. Hey aqcww, the 82.69 drivers i think are pretty good, but i have major video issues, avi/dvd, etc none of them loads up and my computer freezes lol. Those drivers does not work with my bfg 6200, but works just fine with my FX5200 or FX5500.
  13. Not all 8 series cards have 512MB or more. There are alot of 8 series PCI cards that come with 256MB and 512MB. Using my 6200 it has 256MB, but in DXDIAG it shows 251MB, but games are playing at super speed and no issues. yea i guess no source code, no new win9x drivers. You tried out the 82.69 drivers with that 8500GT card?
  14. Well i reinstall the SDK package, gaming issues are gone because i install the retail version, but those DLL files or final debug files are in the system which i can't find, so i will have to reinstall windows to get rid of it, but i am not going to do that. The SDK package is good, but you have to install the retail version always. peace
  15. Remind me never again to download SDK bullsh**. I have uninstall the package, uninstall direct x, reinstall, but those files are still there and i can't seem to find them anywhere on my computer.
  16. I am happy with my setup for windows98se. Also playing older or old games are better win9. Windows98se will be here forever, because newer hardware can not run older stuff as perfectly as win9x does it. But i do think its wise to have 2 desktop computers, for with win9x and with XP or vista.
  17. Just a update: I found a neat get around. Well say you download a demo, and you extract the files, and there is a setup.exe to install the game. Well if you run setup and a get a error, you know xp only etc, well just go to the bin folder or whatever game.exe file and run the game that way. Doesn't work with every game of course, but you don't have to install it the game to be able to run it. I only found this trick in Enemy Territory: Quake Wars so far. NFS Pro street , i tried it too, but all i got was a black screen.
  18. The new ones does not work. Demos anyway. F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate Quake 4 F.E.A.R Alarm Corba Nitro Alarm Cobra Crash time: Need anything higher then the 6200 to run it. Enemy Territory: Quake Wars The Mark FPS Doom 3 El Matador: Like Max Payne but better. Found some more that work.
  19. I have a made a short list of the games thus far that work on windows98se that is for XP or even Vista. I have tested these games and they work fine. Thus far: F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate Quake 4 F.E.A.R Alarm Corba Nitro Alarm Cobra Crash time Enemy Territory: Quake Wars The Mark Doom 3 El Matador If you have anymore please list them. Note: Alarm Cobra Crash time works, but you need a better GPU to run it, anything higher then the 6200..
  20. I am keeping track of how many XP games i can run on win9x, i notice some of them is a no go because of psapi.dll. My question, is there anyway around it? Some games required that file, so i place the file in the game dir and another error shows up.
  21. I don't believe my 2 Drives are dying( one is a DVD writer , the other is a DVD Combo Drive ). Anyways, i have no idea what is going on, but when i try to copy a file from the disc( RAR Or zip ) to my HD or External HD, the file stops at 90% or less, but never finishes. I have something in my add and remove panel that says " Disable/remove DMA for all [E]IDE/PATA hard disks " Is that the problem? Also the file size which i am trying to copy is not 1GB or 2GB, its 300MB or 500MB. I was thinking the rar file could be damage, i really don't know. It doesn't happen with all of my files tho, only certain ones.
  22. Is there a simple task manager for win9x which i can install without it messing around with any of my system files?
