  1. Hi all, Recently, I discovered MicroXP and TinyXP. I was totally impressed with their reduced source size and small memory footprint on first run. I understand that these were achieved at the expense of reduced functionality. My goal: To create a slip-streamed XP install CD which is: 1. Unattended 2. Fully-updated with all-post SP3 updates 3. Complete with all driver packs & applications. 4. Reduced Source to a minimum Basically after installation there should be nothing to update from Windows Updates website and no need to install or update any of my favourite applications. My Steps: These are the basic steps I intend to follow as of now: 1. Start Source - Windows XP Professional Corporate SP0 (with no Service Packs) 2. Slipstream Windows XP Service Pack 3 3. Add IE7, WMP11, Hotfixes, Updates 4. Add Driver Packs 5. Reduce Source size to a minimum without major loss of funtionality 6. Add my favourite applications Could someone please let me know if I am proceeding in the right direction ?? Should I do the source size reduction before adding the Driver Packs or after or it doesnt make a difference when I do the size reduction ?? So far I have completed the following steps using Nlite: 1. Slipstreamed SP3 to Windows XP Professional Corporate SP0 2. Added IE7 I then installed it via VirtualBox and updated it using Windows Updates and took note of all the updates. The following updates were installed on the Virtual Machine (in order - a total of 42) : 01. Microsoft Windows Component Publisher 02. Windows Update Software 03. Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130) 04. Update for Windows XP (KB898461) 05. Windows Internet Explorer 7 for Windows XP 06. Security Update for Flash Player (KB923789) 07. Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework, Version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (KB928366) I then proceeded to download all these updates - except the first 2 (in red) I am currently stuck at this point - have a few doubts which hopefully the more experienced among u can help me with: 01. Is there a difference in Slipstreaming and Integration ?? 02. What is the cleanest (without additional directories and duplicate files) to update the XP install source (hotfixes etc etc) 03. Is there anything in my approach to this goal that needs to be modified (maybe install WMP11 before listing out updates) ?? I do hope someone can help me out. There are many guides and methods out there - but for a n00b like me, none that would explain the subtle differences and advantages of these varied mehods. Thanks in advance.
