    Registry Tweaks

I believe Microsoft's TweakUI Powertoy (XP version) is capable of both tweaks. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx Regards, Zandro
  2. TranceEnergy: Thanks for the suggestions, but I already mentioned trying all that! |Using the updated SP3 RTM slipstreamed to disc fixed it! |It must have been some obscure issue with every build between 5508 |and somewhere in 2006. I didn't even need to change my configuration, |and no more errors in Event Log. | |El Barry, I hope the same works for you. You too, Experts Exchange guy. *Update: I deceived myself. Only in the VM did the setup return no error. On real hardware, the issue persists.
  3. I have rather lazily tried to solve two issues for a few months now, but with my configurations, I always get this error in my event log: The description for Event ID ( 1007 ) in Source ( Userenv ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: The RPC server is unavailable. . Obviously, the first problem is that the description is not retrieved from userenv.dll. I have tried simultaneously keeping Auditing Resource DLLs, GP Management Console, Local Security Settings, Administrative Templates, Logon Notifications, MDAC, COM+, MSDTC, RPC Locator, SENS, even System Monitor... Don't know what components are needed to complete the seemingly simple task of delivering the proper info from the DLL's message table. Someone, please fill me in on that... In lieu of my second problem, here is the respective message from the userenv table: "Windows cannot determine the associated site for this computer. (%1). Group Policy processing aborted. " ... This one couldn't be less publicly resolved, according to my frequent Google and forum searches. Adding DNS Client and Active Directory doesn't help... I used to get these eventlog errors only twice after boot (one from the SYSTEM account, one from my user account), but now, perhaps because of SP3 integration, I get them about every 24 minutes! With the attached configuration (used for my audio machine), these are the only errors added to the event log. nuhi, I read one topic about a user describing this issue alongside something about IIS? I have always removed that component, and can't see how it's currently related--I am in a simple router-based local workgroup, have a static IP, and no domains/AD. Why does [kerbleeping] Windows think I should be? Hope the answer is less than 20 questions away. -Zandro daw_xp.ini
