Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 failed!
cucolinwin replied to cucolinwin's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
Thanks WyW, but that is not my case. We have not redirected anything. I'm thinking of uninstalling SP1 and then re-installing SP1 & SP2, or can I install SP2 without installing SP1 first? thanks for the help -

I assume I did this as I indicated in one of my posts. I downloaded the SP2 file and try to run it locally and still got the same error. If you mean something else, let me know. I don't have IE7. thanks! -

I followed your steps and even got the Inspecting your system window and got to click 'Next' twice, but then I got again: "The Service Pack2 c:\SP2\i366\update\update.inf file is not correct" This is the head of that update.inf file: Not sure if this can help in any way. cucolinwin replied to cucolinwin's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
I tried to manually download the SP2 as I indicated in my first post. I'm still getting the same error: "The Service Pack 2 h:\.....\i386\update\update.inf is not correct" I was able to download and install other updates NOT SP2. What should be the next step? Is there a way to contact Microsoft about this issue? thanks -

I'm trying that at this moment...thanks. Will let you know the outcome. -
We are trying to install SP2 for Win Server 2003. Every time we get the error message indicated at the message title. I also downloaded the sp2 .exe file to run it manually and got: "The Service Pack 2 h:\.....\i386\update\update.inf is not correct" I also downloaded the .iso image and got the same error. I look at my event log: The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID {61738644-F196-11D0-9953-00C04FD919C1} to the user NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE SID (S-1-5-20). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. I followed their advice, but still keep getting same error. thanks

There is ONLY one HD which is a IDE PATA drive. I have no external drives or flash drives connected. thanks -
Using outlook 2003, not able to create any appointments/meeting request. I double click any day in the calendar and nothing happens. Outlook is connected as I can see on the bottom right conner. I'm able to send/receive emails. What can be the cause of this? Everybody else is just fine, this is happening in one PC only. What is this? thanks

While installing Windows(any versiont)Hard drive NOT found

IDE Western Digital (WDC WD800JB-OOCRA1) -
When installing WinXP Pro I get this message: Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard drive disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Set up cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3. I have run the recovery CD that came with the PC, original WinXP Pro CD, have tried a different HD, have installed the HD in another PC and is working fine, I formatted the HD (NTFS) and still same error. I was looking for the drivers for it this is an Western Digital (WDC WD800JB-OOCRA1). The drive does NOT show in BIOS, this is the only HD (master), I tried different connectors and still same, I went to the BIOS and loaded defaults. No luck! The funny thing about this is that I was able to make a backup of some files in the drive using the backup utility from Microsoft. Then I formatted the drive in another pc and place it back in the original pc, but got the same error message anyways. I think this might be a motherboard issue. I tried contacting Alienware, but I have gotten no response. I wanted to ask: Is it possible to install Windows if I connect the drive to another pc and then connect it back to the original pc? Will it boot? Not sure if you understand. Can I use the bad HD drive in a good pc, install Windows and then put it back in original pc? thanks

Hi guys, I have 2 partitions Win2000 and WinXP. I want to get rid of win2k, and only log in the winxp partition. I know how to edit the .ini file. So should I just erase everything in the win2k partition which is C:, do I have to move the WINNT folder to the G:(winxp partition)? Can I format drive C: and able to boot normally to the winxp? I have partition magic, will this do the trick? Please let me know if any ideas! Thank you very much...
