As well as the information provided by Idontwantspam, all these have been solved previously on these forums.

Did you use the search facility?

I would, if it worked better.

Has someone made a tutorial on editing group policy for an unattended install?

If not, can someone point me in the right direction?

I'd imagine you can make a batch file to edit registry keys.

  2. I have a few settings under group policy that I would like the registry keys for. Unless you know another way to integrate them into my unattended cd.

    Internet Explorer:

    Browser Title

    Set Homepage

    Favorites

    Windows Messenger:

Do Not Allow Windows Messenger to be run (enabled)

Do not automatically start windows messenger initially (enabled)

    Add Logoff to start menu

    Turn off personalized Menu

    Force Classic Start Menu

    Remove Desktop Cleanup Wizard

    Force classic Control Panel

I would appreciate any and all answers to this.

  3. hello everyone, it's been a long time since I made my last unattended and have been out of the 'scene' and it's updates.

I just want to know if there's an easy way in which I can use nlite or any other app to download all the updates that were made available after sp2. We use a dell oem sp2 CD at work and whenever we use it we need to download at least 91 updates to get it up to par.

    Is it possible?

    Thanks,

    ceez

There are a few update packs out there. http://www.s.p.a.m.net http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/ http://www.xable.net

You can incorporate them into your build using nlite http://www.nliteos.com/

Personally, I like xable.net's. I haven't used s.p.a.m, and ryanvm adds extras that I don't want in my installations. Hope that helps.

  4. Well, you could configure the setting in a domain GPO, since it looks like you're in a domain environment.

Otherwise, you may want to try setting the following value in the Default User profile.

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced]

    "StartMenuLogoff"=dword:00000001

Would that work under HKLM so that it works for all users?

  5. h0dg3s,

One possible way to do this would be with Group Policy. In my initial tests it seems to work.

    Start > Run > gpedit.msc

User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar

Set Add Logoff to the Start Menu to Enabled and make sure Remove Logoff on the Start Menu is "Not configured"

So how do I add that into an unattended install?

  6. I believe that option is only available if Fast User Account Switching is enabled. I know that you can't enable it if you are set up to log into a domain however.

You can enable it before you force classic logon, but not sure how you would do it when you have classic logon built into the cd.
